New season. CDR has the team off to a good start. Nice job sweeping Duke. I hope you have great season.
Lets take the B12.
Let’s go for the sweep Sunday!
Great win! Just win! Let’s gooooooo
Another sweep today, nice start to the season 3-0 without dropping a set! ![]()
Coogs beat Texas Tech 3-1.
Swept by Colorado. 1-3 in Big 12.
Disappointing loss at Utah. Coogs won the first two sets then lost the next three. Blew an 8-4 lead in the 5th set when Utah went on to outscore them 11-3.
I really don’t understand the loss. CDR is a good coach, but the team keeps making critical errors at the wrong time. Disappointing season after a very promising start.
Wonder if the assistant coach that quit has made an impact?
I hadn’t heard about that. Was that recent?
I think right before the season. Her wife was let go from tennis right around that time.
0-3 loss to Kansas with two of the sets being blowouts. Free fall continues.
Uhhh, maybe we need to hire the assistant back?
I am not an expert on volleyball but the team lacks height. Most of the top 10 teams in country traditionally been playing 3 players 6ft4in or taller at the same time… Stanford a few years ranked in top 3 had 3 players 6ft6in on the court the the whole game.
what is our conference record?
Volleyball is 1-7 in conference, good enough for 14th in conference. Our lone win was vs Tx Tech, we finally beat them in something other than men’s basketball. It’s been tough sledding in the Big 12 so far after big success at the end of AAC. The team seems largely young and inexperienced and we do need to recruit some taller and more athletic middle blockers and outside hitters as Calcoog mentioned. We have a good coach.
I just realized there are only 15 teams in conference for volleyball. Oklahoma State dropped volleyball as a varsity sport in1999 apparently to be in title IX compliance. It was between volleyball and equestrian sports and they felt equestrian sports were more popular in their region of the country so they kept that instead thus making them the only “power school” without a volleyball team.
This is getting old.
The Coogs were up 23-20 in the first set, then UCF scored 5 straight points to win it. Instead of a 3-set UH sweep, they go to a 5th set. UH was at match point, 14-12 when UCF went on a 5-1 run to win the match.
They have yet to win a match against a top 100 team this year.
10/31 update: FIU has cracked the top 100 so we now have a win vs a top 100 team! ![]()
What in the world happened to us this season?!?!
