Lets go Volleyball

Coogs won the first two sets @ West Virginia then went on to lose the next three.
Looking at the RPI’s a couple of weeks ago, I thought our 11/26 match at ttu might be the only win left on the schedule, but ttu won their last two matches 3-1 @ UCF and 3-0 vs Arizona.
If they don’t figure out how to finish teams off when they have them on the ropes, we might be looking at a 1-17 conference record for 2025.

It is one of my favorite sports and the season started with promise, but has fallen apart.
I hope CDH is able to make adjustments for next year. Tough way for the seniors to end their career at U of H.

I see the asst coach/recruiting coordinator is leaving to go be the recruiting coordinator at a local club- not sure if he fell on the sword for this seasons performance?

It’s tough to be really good at things every year in the B12. It is mystifying however.

Update
UH Volleyball was even in worse shape than I thought.
Kellen Morin at 6-4(the only tall player who started) had a season ending injury on Oct 30 against WVU. She is a red shirt senior and her volleyball career is over.
The other 2 tall players: Conner 6-3 Senior transfer from Columbia only played 7 matches:
Pohl 6-4 So did not play at all. Was she redshirted(doubtful since we needed her height)?
Injured? Transferred?
Coach Rehr is getting many transfers from the portal…they appear to be more athletic. But he probably need at least 2 more players who are at least 6-4.
If the 6-4 Morin had stayed healthy and UH had another 6-3 or 6-4 player like Morin UH would have had a winning season.

As a season ticket holder, I am happy with what Coach is building. B12 and the state as a whole is extremely talented. We will get there.

Looks like a very nice hire. We looked a little lost at times this year, especially in the latter part of games. I think this will really help with match adjustments.

Two top area players are committed to the Coogs (story may be paywalled, so both players, both second teamers, listed):

All-Greater Houston volleyball teams and awards for 2025

L — Cali Reece, Sr., Grand Oaks (Houston)
Stats: 520 digs (4.1 per set), 126 assists, 38 aces

S — Shannon Dworaczyk, Sr., Magnolia West (Houston)
Stats: 989 assists (9.8 per set), 194 digs, 102 kills, 54 aces

Rehr is a system guy and this league has figured his system out. His style works when teams don’t serve or terminate at scale, but it’s less forgiving in the Big XII where everyone can.

He has to stop building an offense for the volleyball he wants to play, and start building one for the volleyball they’re actually being forced to play in this league.

Does anyone know how tall are Cali Reece and Shannon Dworaczyk?

According to this, Cali Reece is 5’7".

Interesting, her Grand Oaks team has won two straight 6A state championships. Pretty impressive.

Re Shannon Dworaczyk, per this, is 5’9".
