CoogTTB is an awesome fan no doubt. Thank You for your support.
God Bless and Go Coogs!
I heard from UHAA that there were lots of complaints about it being âtoo farâ from parking lots, hence why they did not come to it. My family including grandkids loved it as plenty of space for many kids things with a/c for the more mature alum.
I only pay $30 to park in the purple garage. Not all are $50. Does not seem bad considering they give away all the parking to donors instead of selling it for additional revenue.
PS for additional reference points. Free parking and shuttle at TCU games is available. Closer pay lots such as a nearby high school I think are about $20 which goes to the high school. Then again, at TCU you buy your parking spot just like you would your season ticket. I think season parking spot prices range from $200-$250 to about $5000-7000. Yes, it is hard to get the good ones.
I would love to see ALUMNI TAILGATING right next to the stadium on the West Side since the garage wiped out any room on the East Side.
Plan and plant some trees. Have some RV parking and some mobile shops and food trucks over there. But make it nice. Put together a ten year plan but have something you can implement that looks REAALY NICE on a two year planâŠthen build out from there.
Tailgating at the Rob was AWESOME. NO SO AT TDECU.
Parking Garage is on the North side of the stadium. The new Football Ops building is on the west side. So I think youâre advocating for a tailgate setup on the South
side of the Stadium, which seems like a good spot.
That is what we had at Robertson. All the colleges had their pavilions in front of the home side as an entrance to the staidum. There is no reason this cant be done at TDECU between Cougar Place and the stadium. The alumni tailgate area should be on the homeside of the staidum anyway because that is where the big club area is and the suites.
Season ticket holders receive parking based on their donor level in Cougar Pride. So basically, we are paying for parking via part of our CP donation. Now I agree 100% it is quite annoying (peeing people off) they are selling game day parking in both the green and blue lots. Sh*t, there have been large RVâs in the green lot this year. We used to tailgate close to Wheeler next to Cullen. Now we are way further south in the green lot.

So, you say Cougar Pride should tell all the high dollar donors ($6,000 and up) they will not get to park in the platinum and red lotâs? Not going to happen. Party on the Plaza outside of Alumni center is just fine. So what if you have to walk a little. From what I have seen of some certain COOGFANS the walk would do their body (fat hinnies) good.
I didnt say that. There is a green space and a little circular drive in front of the home side that a tailgate area can be built into. It is between Cougar Place and the stadium. Zone F where the big donors park would remain.
OK I understand your point of view. Fans will park in the green and blue lots and walk to your proposed spot?
So, what is wrong with the party on the plaza location outside Alumni Center? From my view it is logistically the best option for set up and maintenance. There is plenty of green space. Just a little bit of a walk.
Yes, and inside that outdoor tent was all mud if there was any rain the week of the game. In that tent everything was all free, including alcohol, until supplies ran out. I was never promised a âlife timeâ of free booze. Moving inside the Alumni center made so much sense. The $15 per person makes life so convenient, when game times do not align with our tailgating group.
I think I am one of the very, VERY lucky few that got a life membership for like 300 bucks LOL
I graduated in 2020, so at the time they lowered the price to like 500 or 600 as some kind of promo.
They then sent out a 50% off code, and that stacked on top of the discount.
The box of goodies they gave us was the license plate cover, a t-shirt, a cougar face shaped bottle opener from the tailgates, a water bottle, all the food and drink from those free tailgates, it definitely paid itself off in the first year or so.
In terms of parking: I get five season tickets as a young alumni (even though I still get student ones for free). I tend to sell the season tickets for a price hike on SeatGeek or for cheap (sometimes free) on here, if not given to family members/friends that want to come visit campus.
If youâre in Young Alumni, you get 4X the points in your donation from the CP stuff so, $125 = $500 worth of points for me and I get a blue lot pass. Though I park in my garage due to parking pass.
I havenât had a negative experience with the life member tailgate, especially the young alumni one.

This is nice - didnât know they were offering that.

No, build it on the green spaces on the south side.
Party on the Plaza is not fine. Itâs just okay. It just doesnât have the feel or energy or vibe that we had before at Robertson. If you donât get the difference in what we had and what we now have, not much point of discussing it further. The issue here
is that tailgating was not really given much consideration when the stadium was
located and situated as it was.
Yes,
The College of Engineering had a fantastic Pavillion next to the Rob.They all were standard design and were quite substantial. The University used it during campus tours and events other than game day.It was a win-win for everyone. We were given a 30 minute notice to clear out all our furnishings, ceiling fans ,etc before they were torn down. We were told by Madame Khator we would get a new set up at TDECU. Obviously that did not happen. We old Engineers are still miffed about how were treated. We were at the Rob when attendance was virtually non-existent.Tailgating does help attendance.
The tailgating at Robertson was great because the space for tailgating grew organically. It was not planned out by some marketing people.
Attendance was low at the time but tailgating was awesome. Then as the teamâs success grew, the tailgating got even better.
Then we bulldozed Robertson (understandably), and the tailgating went with it.
Now it seems like the tailgating is scattered to the four corners instead of consolidated. You donât have that tailgate party to tailgate party camaraderie Now you walk a while to get from one to the next. They are all spaced out inst3ad of piled on top of each other.
GW,
I do not know if the Admin will go for it but the Campus upgrade for the Centennial has a forest of trees being planted from the new reflection pool/fountain to Cullen Blvd. It could provide a focused space for Tailgating as a "Cougar Alley " on game day. This space is planned to be used as a large area for outdoor events during and after the Centennial .
Go Coogs !
OK, we are all entitled to own opinions.
