Why ban them? These are all professionals now. As long as they still have a 5th year and there is still a spot on the 105 man roster limit, what does it matter?

The more relevant question is why conferences should have to ban something that’s already banned.

You mean like pay-for-play? Pay for play and calling it NIL is also technically not allowed. In my opinion it is much worse than allowing a couple players back for their 5th year.

Tackle the bigger issues, then worry about small ones. So goes back to why ban them when there are much worse issues?

Do you have an example of a college player’s contract that shows that they’re being paid for playing?

Conferences are “banning” this because it’s against a fundamental rule

Multiple things can be bad. If the conferences believe that this is a particularly low-hanging fruit, let them pluck it.

I don’t think the rule would apply to Johnson or the other incoming kid since neither signed NFL contracts or attended camps…that is my understanding. I would think the same goes for Weaver in hoops
