Local sports talk show(610 AM)

Press has an area in the back of section 119 or so I believe.

He praises Jerrod Johnson of the Texans due to him being an Aggie like his dad but says nothing about the other brother who is in the league - I remember how he basically used his post at the chronicle to get a coaching job for the Houston hoops and had his son along for the ride

I’ve never liked the guy for reasons such as this. Iā€m sure he’s a good person. I just don’t care for him as a sports personality. He thinks he knows everything.

Who are these clowns? I’ve never heard of them.

A wise man warned people near and far not to sleep on Houston. Lo and behold, people are snoring and drooling. May they enjoy their rest.

Hated Palillo’s smug a$$…

Yeah, he was fairly knowledgeable, but the FIGJAM was too much to take. (F*ck I’m Good - Just Ask Me)

It was funny back in the day when Summie went off on him on the air for saying he was leaving UH to go to Kansas.

In my opinion, the truth is that so many in this city who thought Pallilo was real good shows how bad the talent has been in this city. He was an intelligible person with common sense takes while also smug and knew nothing about anything that wasn’t the three main professional teams. Even that was surface level stuff knowledge.

He was good - would even bring up local schools who deserve a shot to be talked about if they did something worthy - he was the rare one man radio show I could stand

Pallilo is just as good, if not better than anyone on the air in H-town right now. However, I did not like how he constantly discounted UH.

Pallilo is a good example that it takes more than sports knowledge to succeed in sports radio. You need to be entertaining, in order to bring in listeners, which translates into advertising dollars. Pallilo’s strength was Houston pro sports, but he has a matter of fact, almost condescending, personality. I think listeners got tired of Pallilo’s brainiac persona, and wanted more entertainment, along with mind-numbing sports statistics.

That said, I don’t think most of the current crop of drive time sports radio hosts are any better than Pallilo.

He did succeed.
He did it for like 30 years. He had more sports knowledge in his pinky than all these other hosts combined

He always praised Jerrod and dumped on Keenum. I remember him saying Jerrod would have a better NFL career than Case. Whoops. Or is it Whoop?

No one is more smug than Adam Wexler. His voice is annoying and he drones on constantly about stuff that could be summed up in mere seconds just so he can hear himself talk. Plus, he’s 5 foot 5

I agree about Wexler. I’ve seen both Wexler and Pallilo at UH games, so I cut both some slack for at least attending UH games.

Wexler is rarely at UH games, if ever. C’mon. He will come to the KU game or some other high-profile and treats his credential as a ticket, which is not professional. You’ll never see him actually do any work or attend postgame presser or anything. Pallilo will roam around the stands at some sporting events and still has a credential for some reason, but neither cover UH. Let’s be real.

I think Wex is actually similar to Pallilo. While he might have decent takes, I almost have to turn the radio off, just listening to his voice and his condescending tone to the callers and the other.host.

Houston sports radio has been unlistenable since Dan Patrick sold both of his stations.
His hosts were knowledgeable, funny and listened to callers.
With the internet I have been able to listen to Houston sports shows and I can’t believe how bad it is.
San Diego and Los Angeles used to be good too and it is about as bad as Houston.
Is the a.m. audience still there?
That’s the question. Listening to espn on Sirius sucks too.

Matt Thomas and Wexler were both on his stations.
