Unfortunately, I think future attendance will prove otherwise. Hiring and extending this coach has squandered our BigXII opportunity to regain momentum we lost after Herman left.
We lost the momentum when we hired Applewhite to be fair.
No one’s making excuses. Some of us simply aren’t throwing in the towel after a tough loss in the second game of the season.
Support the team and the coaching staff. Tough loss but let’s see how the whole season play out. Do not like knee jerk reactions. Longhorn fans had their thoughts on Sarkusuan and yesterday he led them to a win against Alabama @Alabama.
Applewhite’s record was 15-11 (.577)
Holgorsen is 26-20 (.574)
About equal as far as records go.
Won’t be shocked if Dana joins the Helton/Dimel club (overall losing record at UH) by end of the year.
Sarkisian has had like only one red flag in his tenure at Texas (a loss in Year 1 to Kansas) against many green shoots as he’s been building them back up.
CDH has had very minimal green shoots against a plethora of red flags culminating in a loss to Rice in YEAR 5. Those red flags were constantly ignored and dismissed by the sunshine pumpers on here marginalizing anybody who refused to partake in their delusion. There’s no beating Alabama in Tuscaloosa if we just have faith moment right around the corner coming from Dana. It’s over.
LOL! This is why you think people have thrown the towel on CDH? OMG - This is too much!
Yes, I would assume so since it would be pretty stupid to want to fire him for the previous two seasons when he won 20 games, which was a two-year mark exceeded only by Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State, Cincinnati, and UTSA.
Bruh… you’ve been took by fool’s gold.
I wouldn’t be shocked either, but let’s allow the season to play out. I get that fans are angry, but it’s about as likely that that game was an aberration and the Coogs will still get to a bowl as it is that the season’s over.
I don’t think Holgorsen has been great or terrible—somewhere in between. I want to watch the season play out before I conclude he’s a flop or a decent coach. There’s still lots of football to play.
In CKS defense, both his losses were flukes:
2008 Rice may have been its best team ever. They won 11 games that year
The other loss was the year Keenum was hurt.
Yes…Kiffin was the choice. Even if he left after 2 years.
When is our stubborn hard headed leaders going to understand.
You hire young upcoming coaches that want to bust their ass to leverage the success here for a bigger job. A coach that other schools WANT and they PAY YOU to take him which you roll into the next leverage type coach.
In the meantime…they elevate UH to new heights.
Rinse and Repeat
Summlin- leverage coach brought us to new heights
Levine- safe hire …fired
Herman- leverage coach. 2 most exciting UH seasons in 30 years
Applewhite- safe hire…fired
Holgorson- failed retread who found a sucker (UH/Tilman) for a cash grab. Then he fooled UH for an extension WHEN NOBODY WAS GOING TO TAKE HIM FROM US!
Keep being stubborn Tillman.
We have a proven recipe for success here…yet we keep going in an opposite direction.
Oh, and Sampson was a LEVERAGE hire also! There was no guarantee he wouldn’t bail for a NBA job or other job but him staying was icing on the cake!
Lmao smh
He’s won 20 games in two years. Saying he’s a flop at this point kind of defies logic, but whatever. I get that folks are angry and emotional.
You were the only person on the board with the foresight & forward thinking to move on to Prime last year, but it was obvious a change needed to be made. Coming off 12-2, with a 6th year QB, & most veteran team in the aac in it’s last season a conference championship was the bare minimum. People cried about the buy-out, but if it wasn’t clear that after the failure last year the table was set for a disastrous season this year…nothing will bring about action from these leaders.
We would have made many multiples x the buyout had we landed Deion.
Look at Colorado…that we be the University of Houston right now.
New coach…new QB…new conference…it was all lined up for us!
Yes, it was…the table was set & we Coog’d it
Go check out @HWSCoog post in Reality Bites. None of that analysis is “emotional”. It’s the sober reality that those wins are fool’s gold against schools marginally better than Little Sisters of the Poor. We have way more games like yesterday than we do where we look halfway competent. We have never had a game under CDH where we looked like a well oiled machine from start to finish and looked and played awesome. 2012 Penn State, 2015 Louisville, 2015 FSU, 2016 OU, 2016 Louisville. Zero of his 20+ wins in his tenure have even come close to that caliber. The jury is not out. It’s Year 5.
