Lsu is doing a private equity deal/ 100 mil upfront for 10% future

Lane hasn’t done more with less.

He’s never won an SEC championship, or even played for one.

Not at Tennessee (where he had all the resources he could ask for) and quit…

…or at OLE miss, where he (again) quit on the team.

8 years in the SEC, and never even played for a Championship.

THAT’S the point.

He QUIT on Tennessee.
He quit on Ole Miss.
Now he’s at LSU.

Brian Kelly (although a bad cultural fit) won multiple National Championships at Grand Valley State (Division 2), became the best coach Cinncinnatti ever had, and at LSU, at least played for an SEC Championship in his 4 years there.

I don’t like Brian Kelly, but his overall resume is better than Lane Kiffen’s.

LSU was out of their mind hiring Kiffen, because he lacks “Character”.

Instead, he IS a Character.

Because they hired him, the Governor of the State of Louisiana changed the rules on hiring of football coaches in the state, and now LSU is about to mortgage away their future.

$100,000,000.00 in the hole and he hasn’t won a freakin’ game there yet.

We don’t know what the results will be and the odds of him being better than Kelly, Orgeron, Miles, or Saban are not good, All 4 of those guys have played for, and won, National Championships. Neither of which Lane Kiffen has EVER done; let alone a conference championship.

The backup QB at Fresno State has a degree from there with a BS in Recreational & Leisure Services, cheated on his wife, has never won a championship, and is the biggest charlatan in college football.

He only got into coaching because his Father (Monte) was a helluva coach and groomed him. Lane learned to “look the part”, but never learned how to grow up and be a man. As they say in Texas, he’s “all hat, and no saddle”.

I watched Kiffin at UT while I lived in Knoxville. LSU is going to need more than 100 mil.

I need to pile on Lane Kiffin’s professional history:

  • In 2008, as Head Coach of the Oakland Raiders, Kiffin had a very public falling out with Raiders Owner Al Davis and was fired. Davis called Kiffin a “serial liar” and a “con man”,
  • In 2013, as USC Head Coach, Kiffin was fired by USC AD Pat Haden on the tarmac, after losing an away game against Arizona St.
  • In 2016, Kiffin was a candidate to replace HC Tom Herman at UH, until talks broke down, and UH hired Major Applewhite. UH Board Chair Tillman Fertitta was quoted by ESPN as saying "“Lane Kiffin did not show me anything that Major Applewhite did not show me. Sure, he’s been a head coach and he’s been an OK head coach. But I can tell you this: [Kiffin] was not a safe hire.”
  • In 2017, just days before the College National Championship Game, Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban fired OC Lane Kiffin, for being distracted from the game, accepting the HC position at Florida Atlantic and having friction with Saban.

If character and integrity are important character traits for a college football head coach, it is amazing, and completely predictable, that Lane Kiffin is a college football head coach.

Sure, if you judge a coach’s ability on only the most recent year. But by that standard he’s also better than, i.e., Dabo, which would be ridiculous to claim.

Ole Miss also played a hilariously weak conference schedule last year by SEC standards. Only three teams on their conference schedule finished with 6+ wins. No Bama, no Texas, no A&M. They played six of the bottom seven teams in the league standings at the end of the year.

Not that I think he’s bad, but dude’s record looks a lot like the James Franklin of the SEC.

Let’s be clear on how Lane got his career going.

He hasn’t started a game since high school, and he was a backup at Fresno State, where it took him 6 years to get his 4 year degree in Recreation & Leisure.

…and likely only secured those roles in HS and College because his Father was Monte “Flippin” Kiffen; one of the best defensive minds in ALL of football.

He’s burned bridges at every stop, including his marriage.

Can someone tell me why LSU would be any different?

He hasn’t coached a game there yet and already has the school in debt for 9 figures.

He’s like the Anti-Fritz.

Everything Willie IS, Lane ISN’T.

Case Closed!

But other than all that stuff you like him?

When you hang a National Championship banner in the stadium, they don’t put an asterisk on it if you’re coach is an unlikeable turd.

Ain’t the saying “all hat & no cattle”…?

With respect to BK’s resume compared to LK’s I agree with y’all that BK’s is way better after reading all of these comments.

There’s plenty more.

Lane hasn’t even sniffed a National Championship as a Head Coach.

He gets most of his credit for the time he was the Offensive Coordinator at Alabama, but Captain Kangaroo could have coached the talent that was on that roster.

Derrick Henry
Calvin Ridley
Mincah Fitzpatrick

Heck look at it for yourself…

It was the Jimmy’s and Joes, not Lane’s X’s and O’s. Heck, Coach Saban fired him.

Not so fast, my friend. Luke Fickell went undefeated twice and made a playoff appearance.

Now why did you have to go and slander Captain Kangaroo?

I stand corrected.

I’m not here to defend Brian Kelly anyway.

But he’s twice the man Lane Kiffen will ever be.

I’ve literally never heard someone make a case for Kiffin because he was a coordinator on that team. Not that I’ve gone looking.

I’d say the last 8 years as a HC have done more for his rep.

Yeah, the last 8 years certainly have…

This deal reminds me of Whimpy, “I’ll gladly pay you tomorrow for a hamburger today”.

Popeye approves.

I wouldn’t count on that.

There’s no free money and most of it pays off coaches that we’re fired and lane’s nil money for just 1 yr or something like that
