Maddox hits the transfer portal

When was the last time Katy high school had an off year? They have won their district like 30 years in a row.

I guess you could say 31 years ago then.

Well Norbert,
Again, I’m saying that the privates DON’T cheat. It’s not about the state championship it’s about pointing out that public schools don’t have the access to players that privates do. At least legally. It would be considered illegal for public but not for private. So one is cheating and the other isn’t is the thing that I’m curious about. So I wonder if Strake is under the same regulations that public schools have, in that do they have zoning districts as well? Does that make sense?

You already know the answer, are you just trying to bait people?

Yeah, they’re plays that have broken down, but yet in a split second he is able to find an open receiver and delivers a strike! But that shows he can’t look for open receivers? Quite the contrary my man! I’m not arguing with you just expressing my belief that this kid is very talented. I express my opinion and if you disagree that’s your opinion.

Throwing to the receiver that is the most open and that is the closest to the end zone makes him a non-team player? How so? Care to elaborate? How’s saying positive things about a kid offend you anyway? Got something against him?

My knucklehead graduated few years back and now the coaches actually have to do a home visit to verify actually live there and not just renting and throw some furniture and stuff in there
I have no idea how they can determine if someone actually lives there
heck in my bachelor days out of school we had lawn furniture and old wire spools for a table :grinning:

Yes I am offended and yes I do have something against him. The way his line lets guys through they are clearly setting up for the screen pass called by the HC. Does he throw the screen? No. He instead scrambles so he can pad his stats.

Since you didn’t catch my sarcasm on the original post I hope you do now

HISD needs reparations for the talent they’ve farmed out to the burbs - some of your best suburban schools are winning with current HISD talent

When North Forest stopped the Demas kid from going to Tomball it exposed a lot - suburban teams still importing talent

He still went to Tomball. They were gonna make him play on JV during the season though. So he just played on varsity during their scrimmage and sat out until he went to A&M.

North Forest
what a stand up district.

North Forest is part of HISD now

The kid had no reason going to Tomball - his family wasn’t going to follow - it was a classic outside family to lift the kid out the hood story to boost the chances of another kid who had no exposure

If demas never played football at a high level no one is trying to help him from suburbia - the coach did right to block that -

Coach didn’t. District did

Exactly. Solid district to be holding a kid from transferring. Lol.

As punishment, UIL routinely puts the Jesuits schools in the toughest District. And makes them play in the largest category 6A, even though they only have around 1000 students. Plus geographically, Strake had to play the Katy schools when it first entered UIL. Strake is in Sharpstown. Why would they be in the same district as the Katy schools? Hmmm. UIL is just another good ole boy run organization. The article below says that before the Jesuit schools sued to join UIL, only 3 states didn’t allow privates and publics to play together. That’s crazy.

I remember when I was up in Ohio for college, one year, their Division I high school football state title game (their equivalent of 6A) was played between Cleveland St. Ignatius (a Jesuit School), and Cincinnati Bishop Moeller (another large all boys Catholic School).

Both advanced to the state title game after beating several large public schools.

Within Cleveland, the big “West Side” football powers were St. Ignatius, St. Edwards, and Lake Catholic (all private Catholic schools). On the “East Side,” Benedictine (another Catholic school) was a big power.

VERY different from Texas.

I tip my hat to Strake for jumping in 6A football. That Katy District is brutal. Guess it goes both ways in that Strake up against Katy in football might not be fair but Strake vs the Alief schools in baseball isn’t exactly fair either. Win some, you lose some as they say

Well Norb, did you think the UIL was going to put them in a group they could dominate.

Another example of “be careful what you ask for”

The whole districting is BS. Like gerrymandering. Currently, Strake has to play with the Alief schools and then Pearland. What the heck crazy district is that? District 18 is Strake’s natural district to be in. Close so the student body can attend games and create some rivalry.
