This is the third portal transfer, is it always hard losing players but maybe now we can get rid of the “projects” and bring in portal players to win NC like Michigan.
I think the only true “project” was Lath. McFarland, and to a large degree, Harwell, were hampered by injuries. Hard to consider Sakho a project, as a one year player. I thought Sakho met expectations of him.
The other recent project that comes to mind is C Chris Harris Jr. I thought Coach Sampson got as much as he could from Harris. There were a few games where Harris surprised some of us.
McFarland, lath and kj were all developmental projects.
Potential not PRODUCTION…
as was every other
player that CKS recruited… ![]()
So you carefully chose to ignore the poster above who mentioned that lath was the “only” true project and focus on my response.
Wishing McFarland the best
I wonder if the departures of McFarland & Lath mean that we’re not yet finished with HS recruiting
SOMEBODY’S gotta be 3rd string
I hope it means we are bringing in bench players who can actually compete for minutes or play in games when fouls add up or subs are needed. ![]()
Losing him doesn’t bother me. I never seen him as a someone that could ever be a part of the rotation. Hope he finds a school where he can thrive!
I think Cenac must return to uh. He is not ready for nba.
I also think that although money is tempting, Kingston should come back and work on getting stronger, refine his skills, his jump shot, his passing, etc… he probably won’t and similar to jarace walker, will take money, and then sit on an nba bench for a couple of yrs, learning…
I can see this. Kinda similar to Shep with the Rockets but Kingston does have that 6’4" frame and length. He already has the ability to drive and use that length to keep the ball away from defenders so he may get plenty of minutes early.
If Fred hadnt gotten hurt Reed prob isnt playing like he is now.
McFarland was recruited as a four-star center. I think we had high hopes for him before his injury.
Does he want a fresh start closer to home?
I must admit that I am frustrated by McFarland and Harwell transferring. We’ve been patient with helping them to work through their injuries, and just when we might expect them to make significant contributions they transfer.
I think he’ll be similar to two kids that transferred outa couple years ago. One named Robbie and another “6’10” kid from Indiana. Can’t remember his name.
Powell?
JWalk is playing himself into a nice 2nd contract… his 4th year (26-27) will be roughly $8.5 million according to google.
Can’t argue against that…
Yes he reminds me of Powell, no bulk too skinny, he is working hard to get past his injuries, wish him all the best
Best of luck to him. I would’ve transferred too just to change my injury luck some
Unless we sign 10 starters, like Michigan.
I think McFarland had much more upside than either of those two did…the injuries have been too much to overcome and he will probably never be the same player.
Remember Sampson was very high on the kid when he signed here, saying in the line that he was they type of kid you win championships with.
So sad it did not work out and wish the young man good health going forward.
