I wonder what he was unwilling to do?

File that under things probably not good for the country.
Certainly adds to my concerns of what is happening to our military.

CBS seens to be admitting the administration hasn’t been completely true about what’s left of Iranian military power

Guess we need a true MAGA to run the Navy

Absolute loyalty to Fearless Leader and Commandant Drunky over competence

She’s on record; we’ll see how close to the mark she is

ā€œHe did socialize with Epstein: could there be something incriminating there?ā€

Its only a plan he’s had since 1988

And has been threatening throughout this excursion

He said that he’d blockade Iran, and back up their oil shipments in 1988? I’m watching your video now (while I’m watching the Cubs and Breggie), hope you watched mine.

So far, your 1-month-old video isn’t saying the same thing. She said nothing about ā€œtaking outā€ Kharg Island

I did watch it, i guess i mis understand her. I thought she was saying taking the island and ruin the oil wells is on the clock if negotiations don’t get anywhere

She’s an Indian journalist, a good follow, imo. I don’t think she predicted past the 26th

Did they purposely choose not to bomb those too? Also, if there are mines in the water, how do regular vessels traverse it everyday without incident?

Probably not, speedboats are easy to disperse quickly vs big ships. They also hide easier. It’s what makes them pretty useful

6 months? Oof.

That’s probably a bit of an exaggeration, but we don’t really know how many mines are down there.

Keep an eye on gasoline futures - they’ve continued to rise even when the oil futures dipped down into the $80s, and they’re the highest they’ve been in about 4 years already. This reflect the higher delivery prices that refiners are paying and the belief that it’s going to persist.

Google says the IRGC has thousands of ā€œmosquito boatsā€ - 3000-5000.

They can probably buy 2 or 3 for the cost of a pickup truck.

So unless something changes the equation it’s a contest of whether Iran will start bouncing checks before the US loses the will.

(The US won’t start bouncing checks for a few years but we don’t acknowledge that so it’s a nonissue by choice lol).

Anyway, unlike Trumpp’s last Secretary of the Navy, who had no experience in the field of national defense whatsoever, his new one brings some serious military credentials.

Now don’t get me wrong. We have civilian control of our military, of course.

But every Navy Sec from 2006-2025 had military experience.

Here’s the new guy.

The Secretary of the Navy isn’t really involved in combat strategy. It’s a civilian job that acts more of a operations manager of the Navy. There have been numerous Secretaries of branches without military experience.

That being said, not all NBA stars are going to be good coaches, and not all veterans are going to be good secretaries.

I hope Hung Cao is going to be a net positive for the Navy, but DT has made bad hiring decisions over and over and over again.

My guess is that John Phelan was against this blockade. It’s pointless, and a large waste of time and money.

Actually, strategy is very much a part of the job description. As well as policy, planning, etc.

TACTICS and OPERATIONS, by contrast, not so much.

Here’s the thing. Obama’s third SECDEF had no experience in uniform, but was a career DOD civil servant; he ended up being the best of Obama’s three SECDEFs that I remember.

Phelan, OTOH…had NO experience in the industry. Was a financial guy.

His big thing was the ā€œTrumpp Battleship.ā€ Allegedly, he and Hegseth didn’t see eye to eye on that.

What and who are you quoting? I didn’t see that in the article I posted.

And since the sanctions waiver was just extended, they will continue to have funds for the forseeable future.
