Mercy Miller

Does he stay?

He stays, Master P has been clear that Mercy wants to be pushed hard to be his best and the best person/program to do that is Sampson and Houston.

He’s at the best program in the country. Don’t see why he’d leave. I expect he’ll be back next year and be our most improved player.

If he does leave it wouldn’t be to go play for New Orleans next year. I don’t think he will transfer but it is a real possibility that he isn’t part of the rotation next year. Coach typically does a 8 man rotation once we get into conference play and it will be very competitive to make the rotation with the 3 five stars we have coming in. Of course we could always have an unexpected player transfer out of the program similar to Tramon Mark or coach could expand the rotation to 9 guys but based on coach’s track record I don’t think that is likely.

I don’t think CKS has ever had more than 8 guys that were rotation ready except for possibly at the beginning of a season before injuries like this year

After he starts the last 2 regular season games and all games in Kansas City he’ll be happy and stay.

Nope.

This is a joke right? The thought of him leaving for UNO is laughable man.

Depending on guys coming back, I could see the rotation expand to 9 next season.

The last time we had a 9+ regular rotation was 2018-2019, which also happens to be the last time we had two pure point guards on the roster who were ready to play(Galen and Deeky). Of course we had Jamal in 2021, but he wasn’t ready for rotation minutes as a freshman. Ever since, our backup primary ball handler has been a combo guard/hybrid player, like Marcus, Tramon, or Mylik.

Next season, we would expect to have both Milos and Kingston on the roster. IF we don’t have any early or unexpected departures, I could see a rotation like this:

Milos and Emanuel starting at guard, with Kingston and Mercy off the bench
Terrence starting at wing, with Harwell off the bench, possibly McCarty here too
Jojo and Cenac the starting bigs, with Jacob and/or Ced off the bench

With the latest development with his dad and Mercy’s regression of role here and the wave of incoming talent next year it sure on the surface anyway looks like Mercy’s days here may be nearing an end. It’s a shame because you can sure see flashes of quality in his game.

But he has not looked good at all in any of his limited opportunities that I can recall lately. Most of all he looks lost and a liability on defense. I don’t know if he is pouting or if he is just not as good as I originally expected him to be.

I have been following him and pulling for him since he first committed to Houston at 14. Being willing to commit and stay with that commitment that early means something to me. I will be pulling for him and hoping he turns it around defensively and develops the other intangibles it is going to take for him to elevate his game.

He is going to have to work his ass off if he wants to crack the top eight rotation for next year. Don’t know at this point if he has the intestinal fortitude and willingness to do so.

Milos could go to the NBA this year

He definitely could, as could Jojo.

Uh oh

Was it a joke when Antoine Davis got out of his commitment here and followed his dad to Detroit?

Everything changed in Las Vegas and he has seen the court very little since.

We weren’t the program we are today when that happened.

Had nothing to do with it. At the time Sampson called Davis “one of best high school shooters” he had seen.
Regardless he followed his dad to Detroit and Sampson allowed him to get out of his signed agreement.
Mercy is a nice project on a loaded team, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see him follow his dad.
We will see.
