Minute Maid Classic

When a pitcher is not anywhere close to being sharp and gives up a bomb to allow the game to be tied in the B9……it’s generally not a good idea to leave the same guy out there the next inning.

He blew two saves in one game….you know why that rarely happens? Because 99.9% of coaches are not dumb enough to leave the same guy out there to do it again.

I don’t know if TW made that call from the clubhouse or one of the assistants did but it was fu:;ing stupid…

Crappy a$$ coaching

2 good starters then getting to Murray the problem.
If Murray not same with better schedule they are skunked.

Crazy running wont work with good teams. Would have been out many times in the wins if OF & catchers were good.
Cant complain about hitting so far.

Would Woody make that call?

It looked like it was Kivett or Kenny….not 100%

I could be wrong but I thought Woody wasn’t a dugout coach? Have y’all seen him in the dugout?

Is it too early to start thinking about trading Jones for prospects?

This looks like another wait ‘til next year team.

“This” is why we aren’t playing LSU or UT…

Problem is with the seniors we have and clearly our best players next year is looking bleak….

Other than Ace no other freshman are getting any regular PT so there is no development going on….the absolute best you could hope for is to portal guys to replace the seniors that leave….doubtful when you consider replacing guys like Murray, Jones, Jelkins, etc.

I was really hoping this was a borderline 64 team but the pitching is no where near what is needed.

I haven’t given up on the season….but between the lack of pitching and having TW as coach I am close.

Not sure who saw the game today, but TW’s behavior was ridiculous when he got tossed.
The home plate umpire was actually pretty good today and very fair.
He rung up Ace on a borderline pitch at the knees….could it have been an inch or two low? Maybe, but it was a good pitch….and with two strikes it was too close to take……should have fouled it off.
Whitting started cursing immediately at the ump……when the inning was over he came out of the dugout and acted like a complete jacka$$….

There are plenty of times that warrant getting that wound up as a coach and potentially getting tossed……that was not one of them….not even close.

Same ‘ol, same ‘ol. smh

Whitting and the womens hoop coach must have donkey show pics of Pez.

Impressed with LSU’s fan support…outdrawing Texas fans 2-1.

Glad the weather cooperated…big little league tournament in town this weekend as well!

Same ol’ Whit…beat up on stiffs…bad base running…resigning him to 3yr deal when he should have been let go years ago is all proof you need that the Baseball Program isn’t even on AD radar at this point in time and I understand that as Football and Basketball pay the bills…but…damn…it ain’t rocket science to know that our program has needed a new direction for couple years now.

Hundreds of youth baseball teams are coming to Houston this weekend to participate in a regional tournament — which is expected to generate millions of dollars in local economic impact.

Florida-based Perfect Game, a baseball and softball scouting and events company, will bring nearly 1,000 teams from 28 states to the Houston region March 1-4 for its 2024 Houston Super Regional NIT Tournament. The company is no stranger to these types of events as it hosts well over 9,000 tournaments and events throughout the country annually. However, none of those events comes close to the scale of this weekend’s local tournament, said Taylor McCullough, Perfect Game’s vice president of operations.

Youth baseball teams in the 6-14U age group will compete in games starting March 1, with championship games being played March 3-4 depending on age group. The tournament will span 150 fields in 33 different baseball complexes across the Greater Houston area. Additionally, 350 umpires will be used, many of whom are coming to Houston from different states.

The company continues to bring the massive tournament to Houston because the city has the proper infrastructure to support it, McCullough said. There’s not many cities in the U.S. that have as many baseball complexes and fields that are easily accessible like in Houston, he said. Additionally, the city is a robust amateur baseball market with a strong base of local teams, which McCullough said is “critical” for running a tournament like this.

“I don’t know that we could pull this off anywhere else in the country,” he said.

The company also continues to innovate with the event, which McCullough described as a “staple in our schedule annually.” Perfect Game is hosting its first-ever PG Fest for the tournament, which will include a vendor village for various vendors and partners, an MLB The Show tournament, live music, a home run derby and a drone light show. The company will host the fan festival March 1 at the Baseball USA Facility in northwest Houston.

Perfect Game also has partnered with the Astros Foundation to provide discounted tickets for tournament participants and their families to the 24th annual Astros Foundation College Classic at Minute Maid Park.

We got stuck playing in Hitchcock :frowning:

At least not the 8am game. Would have sucked coming from Katy.

My buddy lives in League City and they play in Montgomery tomorrow afternoon. He said 79 miles from his door to the field.

And all of that is “in Houston.”

My son played in the big Atlanta PG deal. It wasn’t as many age groups, but we drove all over the place for games. Fun times.

That company is getting rich off these events lol

High ranking but not your Pap Pap’s great Vandy team.
Home losses to FAU (5-4), Dayton (3-4), and Gonzaga (1-9).
Hopefully hang in there today.
