Posting new guidelines is just a way of saying I hate diversity, inclusivity and equality.
Sentimenal Value and Train Dreams did not have a diverse cast and were nominated.

What does 96 years without one, tell you about the history leading up to 2026. Was there one between 1972 when the Godfather came out and now. Seems like your answer is right there

Hattie McDaniel was the first Black Oscar winner (Supporting Actress, 1940), while Sidney Poitier was the first to win Best Actor (1964). I dug a bit deeper to your questions and a film needs to cover 2 of the following points and there is nothing wrong with making sure there is diversity and inclusivity either, in front of the camera, behind it, leadership or marketing.
What is the real issue you have with this? Why is it needed now? Well, to help under represented groups have access, learn and grow in the film business that has historically been closed and hard to break into.

Francis Ford Copola would likely ensure 2 of the requirements of the 4 boxes were checked to have the Godfather considered. So yes, The Godfather would likely get nominated and would win.
Again, you could just save us all the time and simply say you hate DEI.
Regarding Braveheart, it is considered one of the most underserving best picture winners (there are other films considered underserving as well) and beat out Apollo 13 that was widely considered the biggest competition, Apollo 13 won top honors at the SAG, PGA, and DGA awards.

I read the synopsis, sounds interesting.
