Moving to electric vehicles will dull recessions currently inflated by oil

Is this the tipping point? Walmart to have charging stations.

Hmmm…30,000 pounds or about $40,000.
Wish she would have given range estimates in addition to battery kwh options.

The Ford E-Transit lists at starting price of $45,700 with range of 159 miles.

My vote…undecided…if these will go over big.

That’s a good development to see.

My initial concerns are that these charging stations need to have an attendant ( or
robot ?) to minimize potential vandalism. But that drives up cost a bit.

Did you know that you can park at any Walmart parking lot overnight for free? Lots of RV or travelers do this already. Makes sense to have them have an EV station. What’s telling is that they say that 90% of all people in the US are 10 miles from a Walmart. Wow. Didn’t know that.

I’ve seen and suspected that’s what some do. But I didn’t know they had
Walmarts approval and blessing to do so.

I didn’t either know it was approved.

Probably not a bad move especially in the serious RV areas out west. Let them boondock in the lot, then there’s a good chance you get a big shopping customer in the morning

I can’t post the article from the WSJ.

Tesla’s board in March contacted multiple executive placement firms to begin a search process for a new CEO to replace Elon Musk at the helm of the embattled electric car company, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday night, citing multiple anonymous sources.

It’s not clear what the time table would have been for Musk’s ouster or whether those search efforts remain in place, the Journal reported.

Tesla sales fall again for April in both France and Denmark. Granted there
aren’t large volumes sold there anyway, but still not a good sign.

Tesla sales fell in France for a fourth straight month in April and also dropped in Denmark, data showed on Thursday, the latest sign Elon Musk’s EV brand continues to struggle as Europeans buy more Chinese cars and some protest against his political views.

In France, Tesla (https://www.reuters.com/markets/companies/TSLA.O) sales tumbled 59.4% year-on-year to 863 vehicles last month, data from French car body PFA showed. That was a bigger fall than the 36% drop in March.

Also, the Tesla chair denied the WSJ on a CEO search having been done.
Not unusual to see a denial like that though. IMHO the board waited too long anyway; but, OTOH they had sky high stock evaluations back in December.
The brand is tarnished at this point. Going to take something spectacular to turn it
around.

Tesla chair Robyn Denholm on Thursday denied a Wall Street Journal report that said board members had reached out to executive search firms to find a replacement for Musk.

It also gets worse when you look at how Tesla made a profit. It was profitable by selling carbon credits. The administration is looking at doing away with carbon credits. If that happens Tesla will almost immediately show losses every quarter. As long as Elon is tied to the brand, the damage will not be repaired any time soon.

If Tesla does bring in a new CEO, I hope they fix their service departments. It’s horrible.

I have heard their service is not great. A buddy has shared a headache about an issue he had and how they seemed to be guess as to the issue that was software related. What other non Tesla cars would you consider?

I’m not sure who’d want to take that job on. Guess there are some high flyers out
there that would relish the challenge. But the way those guys get huge salary and buyouts, even if they fail, they win. I mean where do start in the turnaround ?
Shutdown the cybertruck product, rename the company, introduce new models, slash prices, fix service , start doing market research , ???

Just seems like a lot of problems with the brand now.

The service used to be pretty good, but they laid off a bunch about a year and a half ago. Now it’s extremely hard to get an appointment. I’m also a Ford and GM owner. With those, if you need to go to a dealership, you just show up. With Tesla, you have to make an appointment though their app.

Went ahead and reserved my spot for one of these. Mid-2028 at the earliest. Definitely not getting an orange one.

Remember those EV haters that were worried about the grid going down? Well, add appliances to that. Of course those guys have probably done an about face since then.

I saw it referred to as a mid-life crisis in auto form. Smart folks would have bought a sports car.

One could apply that metaphor to Elon as well.

Man how things have flip flopped. lol.

Anyway, looks like we’ll have no electricity for EVs, let alone all the new homes for people moving into Texas.
