Moving to electric vehicles will dull recessions currently inflated by oil

So about that hydrogen.

ID Buzz looks like an electric car.

Cybertruck looks like what we thought an electric car would look like after we saw Tron.

Tron come out over 40 years ago.

I’m really not sure what you are trying to say. Most people think the cybertruck is
odd looking with its angular looks. Nothing out there comes close to it in the pure visual category. ID Buzz comparison you’ve thrown out is kinda odd. Visually, it
is appealing to me , but this is highly subjective personal taste thing.

Cybertruck has had lots of quality control problems and recalls. These are facts.
Maybe the Buzz will have like issues too, but they are too new here.

In the US a 231 mile range is kinda a joke; maybe for European commuters it’s
adequate. So yeah, we can critique the Buzz on that number thing for sure. But
they are so new, kinda hard to say much more.

I think you want us to say that Tesla is just getting bad press because of the CEOs
involvement in politics. A big conspiracy of MSM media.
That’s all it is !

Nevermind the sales numbers and recalls.

And yes, the CEO has alienated a large portion of the American and European
buyers because of his choices. It’s like swearing at and suing his advertisers in another one of his businesses. Good luck with that approach in business. And
there are other as good alternatives out there now. Result —> sales fall.

Hydrogen has long road ahead of it, just the road hasn’t even been surveyed yet
for construction.

Using hydrogen trucks on fixed routes does seem like the right approach, with
non public refueling stations at the end points. At least the right starting paradigm imho.

Of course since the guy was convicted of fraud, not sure it’s so much an unworkable technology and just plain old corruption here.

Founded in 2014, Nikola’s vision for electric and hydrogen fuel-cell trucks became mired in controversy after founder Trevor Milton was found guilty of defrauding investors. (Milton was pardoned … in March.)

This one of you guys? Just saw it on 45.

I’ve ridden in a couple of Teslas (never driven one) and thought they were pretty cool. Impressive, actually. Part of the Tesla hate is the marketing hype. It isn’t gonna cook you breakfast. It’s a nice, quiet, reliable (as much as cars can be reliable) ride.

All the people who wanted to buy a piece of The Future already have one. The rest of their potential customers are just looking for cars.

I too thought they were cool until I rode in what China has out there, those blew me away.

I didn’t even kmow that VW was electric but I dont know everyones line up of cars. It has a retro look and its not horrible to look at but the range and price tag are an issue.

The cyber truck is hideous, like an abandoned concept from Tron.

Its others are ok, but stale in looks.

I owned a VW van in college. Paid $500 for that rust bucket. Taught me how to work on cars because something always broke.

I like the new EV van but it needs better range and I need to see the drivers seat. The old van was the most comfortable drivers seat ever.

On May 11, I bought Tesla. I figured all the burning and vandalism was hurting the stock price. It is currently up 38% since then. Yeah, I’m taking profits. “Sell in May and go away”

Yeah, good for you ! Tesla has just too much volatility for me. I know you actively
trade in amazon and walmart (?) too.

Compared to me, you are an active, almost, day trader  Nothing wrong with that if that’s
your game.

Every time I think about Tesla I always get stuck on what happens to it if something happened to Elon unexpectedly.

Well here goes another bullet point.

I have a good friend who has his original year two version, and it’s going strong after many, many miles, plus he still gets free charging.

That’s impressive imho. For the 200k mile car, that’s around 600-700 recharge cycles I’d estimate.

I guess if someone is going to buy a used BEV, you definitely want to pay somebody like Recurrent to do an extended test of the battery before buying it.

Tesla (TSLA) keeps getting worse in Europe despite electric car sales surging | Electrek

That 49% drop in Europe is bad news for Tesla. From the article:

The European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) released the latest complete data for European vehicle sales for April 2025 today, and it confirmed that Tesla’s total sales in EU, EFTA, and UK amounted to 7,261 units – down 49% year-over-year:

Per Musk, all manufactures having trouble. And that is not the truth.

Last week, we reported that Tesla CEO Elon Musk claimed “every manufacturer” is experiencing demand problems in Europe, with “no exception.”

As we can see from the ACEA data, that’s not true. The Volkswagen Group, Renault, BMW, and SAIC are all up year-to-date and in April.

Tesla’s problems persist into May. The data coming from European markets that report daily car registration shows that Tesla’s Q2 is still tracking barely above Q1 and significantly below Q2 2024:

So how did Tesla’s stock perform over the last month? Of course it
went up about $100 per share.

Be very interesting to see how Musk turns around the massive declines in
the European and Chinese markets.

Tesla’s sales have declined in the US in April and May. In April, sales of the Model Y dropped 24%. TheStreet reported that Tesla’s first quarter deliveries were down 13% year-over-year. This decline follows a 13% year-over-year deliveries decline in the first quarter. Tesla’s sales declined in its three key markets of the US, China, and Europe.
While sales have declined in April, there’s also evidence of a general shift in the EV market where Tesla’s dominance is decreasing.

Remember when the YouTuber breaking his Cybertruck was making the rounds, and people took it at face value, well he’s following it up, which is interesting.

Not EV related directly but Tesla FSD has come a long way. I can see this working for my older parents in the future.

I’ve started using my FSD more and more. It has come a long way. There are still a couple of hiccups but it does the job really about 90-95% of the time.

When did you get the computer upgrade to HW4 to support FSD ? How long did it take to do the swap out ?
