Then SpaceX didn’t buy enough Trucks.
Literally there might be 10,000 CyberTrucks sitting in the Tesla parking Lot.
Perhaps our Military could use them?

I’ve often heard that manufactures target the higher priced luxury buyers first to
recoup investments faster. This strategy, while I like hearing about it, seems to fly in the face of that tactic. At that price, it would be a formidable competitor to the
Slate mini truck.
Well, they already tried that with the Lightning which I think was a strategic mistake in that Lux EV buyers would probably prefer an SUV over a truck. Particularly when you factor in battery issues when towing.
Folks that buy big expensive trucks generally will be towing something. Both EVs and ice vehicles will lose range when towing large things. Not a big deal if you can pull into a gas station and refill in 5 minutes. It is a big deal if you have an EV and can’t make it to the lake without having to stop for hours of charging. They should have solved that problem before they went big truck.
I kind of get why they are sticking with trucks still, it’s their bread and butter. They’re margin on trucks is huge compared to other types a vehicles. Basically why they dropped sedans.
Truck buyers have towing anxiety when it comes to EVs. The Lightning was getting somewhere just over 100 miles per charge when towing a boat.
My buddy has a F250 diesel and complained about $5.65/gal in Illinois while towing a 40’ trailer to the Indy 500. He said an EV truck would take him a month to get there.
Good thing they’re not diesel, those prices are ridiculous right now
His F250 diesel was close to $100k. Less that a year in, all the electronics went haywire. Nobody could fix the problem including guys brought in by Ford. Ended up giving him a new truck. Helps that he had made 7 purchases from Ford previously
I saw a different brand, Rivian electric truck, looked cool but it faces the same problems you mentioned
I bet Ford’s margin on that was huge (for the auto biz). That is why I think they’re still going truck with their next EV when they should go SUV.
Hopefully, they’ll take the new platform and make an Explorer out of it. Would be a much better product IMHO. Give an explorer EV a 350 to 500 mi range, some luxury internal and external features, and it would sell big I think, with good margins.
Was there a windmill disposal issue in this thread or another? If another, I’ll move this to it.
Very interesting article on windmill blade recycling. Seems to be a great solution that is already implemented.
