Reid Ryan is a TCU guy. I doubt he would want to come be the AD here.
We hired a UT guy as our HCâŠjust sayin
Which coach?
Man Steve Patterson wanted to trade Dream for Ronny Seikaly and Harold Miner. Yeah best center ever for a DJ and âBaby Jordanâ. JFC no thanks.
Willie went to Pittsburg State.
We were dumb to do a down the hall hire to pick up Applewhite. So much pressure to do so when youâve had success. Sometimes it works. See Gary Patterson.
Herman was more of a Cal Lutheran guy.
Applewhite and even Herman was a UT grad
Reid is a great guy but this would be a learn on the job situation. The stakes are too high to gamble.
I doubt he would either but interesting name, nonetheless. I still think it will be Dickey.
Utsa ad got an extension based on reports
Why not a Charles McClelland? Chair of the ncaa basketball committee - has worked miracles at tsu and prairie view and is a commissioner that has been in the room with all of the big dogs. Wonât complain about budgets as heâs been exposed to all levels
Charles has a sweet gig. Doubt heâs willing to give it up.
Gotta have someone who can sell sponsorships to Houston based corporations.
Nothing else matters.
In that case, I know the perfect candidate:
Give the job to Lauren Sampson.
Heâs worth a call in my opinion - our new approach needs to be people who deserve P5 opportunities that has proven they can deliver with less which makes their job easier in some aspects as they have more toys at their disposal
Going get an assistant AD from UT or former AD from whatever P5 isnât exactly moving the needle if theyâre going to fight you over negotiations and complain what they donât have
We all know the strengths and weaknesses here - there are plenty of folks who could turn some of the weaknesses into strengths overnight with right hiring practices
What do all of you believe the qualities and responsibilities of Athletic Directors of P4 colleges are today?
Currently in charge of sponsorships, tickets, suites, and business development for the HLS&R

The fact that they still havenât found an AD letâs me know they are really taking this serious.
They didnât have a plan before firing Chris.
Interesting.
Yeah, not only have they not named an AD, thereâs been no credible reporting to my knowledge of any real candidates besides Dickey.
We should create a new position, Vice President for athletic sponsorship, business and corporate development. Let her do that and have the AD take care of sports. Her position would be equal to AD.
