I agree they don’t care for the city their just here for the jobs
I think his point was people like throwbacks, which is why this has been wildly successful. Houston nostalgic about Houston things. Imagine that!! People all over the country recognizing this gear is foyrrr.
That Houston JC bit didn’t hit the first time, but keep at it… I’m sure it will land.
I wonder if that is an issue at Texas, like is some gear just for the team only?
I’ll donate to your GoFundMe site to help pay for the surgery you need to restore your site.
I love how people complain about UH not hsving traditions, but are more than ready to trash the core identity that is one and the same as a core tradition. School colors. I think A&M should change their colors to lime green and orange. Too many schools have the same or very similar to maroon and white.
I wondered who in Hades were the geniuses who watched and made Two and a Half Men such a popular, long-running show.
Didn’t know so many of our fans hang fuzzy dice from their rearview mirror.
What are the chances they wear these uniforms again? Only next time, go with blue pants and white jerseys! Ha
We should concentrate on the product on the field.
Stop with all the gimmick paraphernalia.
We should fight for red and white. The cougars are not going to attract more fans because we are wearing the colors of a long gone team as a percentage. I wonder how many Houstonians have ever seen an oilers game as a percentage most Houstonians were probably either not alive one or arrived when the oilers last played in Houston.
“They” connect to us and know us through what UH has achieved in the red and white that has identified us long before and after the Oilers showed up (and left).
Love Ya Coogs should be an annual game
Just like UCF wears the colors of their school when they were the Citronauts once a year. We could/should start wearing the Oilers blue for the city once a year.
I believe this past Saturday, a new UH tradition was born. i hope they follow through with it. And next year, they will have merch to sell at the game.
You mean when they went by another nickname for the school? If so your logic is flawed. UH has never been known as the Oilers.
We wear red for the city because that’s who we, UH, are. We don’t change our identity to connect with anyone. They connect with UH because of who UH is. Not pretending to be someone they’re not nor never were. That is weak. You’re admitting your weakness. Smart.
That part became a huge marketing and pr success for very little cost. That’s just one part of building a program of consitency, on the field though is more important.
Program of consistency?
Like the “big” programs that are always changing their uniforms and colors?
And that would be …
This promo was such an enormous success. Here’s hoping they do this once every year!
I did not mean uniforms when it came to consistency, I meant in success.
