New uniforms connect UH to THE CITY in all new way

Even AD Pezman said it was as much to bring the City of Houston history into the idea as it was to use colors the Oilers used.

Many schools wear alternate uniforms. I don’t really see the big deal. It’s a one-off, it got all kind of PR for UH, and the players loved it. Sounds like a win-win to me.

If my choices of jerseys to wear once a year were Black or Oilers replica, I’d go with the Oilers replica. At least it has some Red and White on it.

You continue to make a point thanks. Your inability to make a counter argument and not Ad Hominem attacks is very telling of your character.

Diff between alt and a total color overhaul. Using black is alt but not devoid of the traditional color(s).

We get thrown to the desert to die, somehow persevere to make it this far and into the higher ranks. Then the first game out we want to present ourselves as different than what we are and what we’ve never been. Acquiescence.

Should have been true to ourselves, and the “city” (as if we’ve made any effort to cultivate the casual fan in the city) can be true to us. Red and white.

Mr. Holier than thou above all the refuse. LOL.

Don’t they also frequently wear the flag on their helmet? So they extended their alt hemet to their uniform. They didn’t wear a Colts uniform which would have been the equivalent

So adding the color black and still using traditional school colors is ok but adding the color blue along with our traditional colors is a “total color overhaul”?

You can stop digging at any time.

Sooo all the great press and publicity we got wasn’t worth it at all? You’d give that all up (100s of millions in earned media) for us to have just worn red and white?

I’m guessing he makes many decisions based on the available finances . . . . . not projected finances . . . . . sort of like a bird in the hand type thing . . . .

Once worked with a fellow that had a Cincinnati Reds ball cap in “Shamrock Green”. It happens . . . . .

Hmm. Ive got a “super saiyan” Vegeta with BLACK hair still in the original box. :sunglasses:

Anyways, i dont want to use these uniforms anymore this season. It was a good one game thing but using multiple times a season reeks.

A higher debate should be how our traditional colors should be schemed. It SHOULD be:

Home: red hats, red jersey, white pants or red hats, white jersey, and red pants

Away: red hats, white jersey, white pants

The point is fook your white helmets. :unamused:  :sunglasses: :face_with_monocle: :face_with_monocle:

But these are our city colors, which pitt also did in 2010. We just did it in the style of the oilers since they chose the city colors for their team. It was a killing 2 birds with one stone situation.

I mean… it’s better than being a loser…

They looked like Louisiana Tech.

I loved the uniforms. The only thing I would have changed would have been the logo on the helmets. You really couldn’t read the word “Houston” from the stands. I would have liked to have seen the interlocking UH in Columbia Blue outlined in red.

I believe that is what we call a marketing win.

Since some want to stick with “tradition”, should we have just stuck with our first helmets?

I have to admit this was a resounding success. I took my grandson to the game and he loved them and wants one now. I think you can get some with Oiler players’ names at academy, but I will wait and see what our merch looks like when it comes out.

Quite a success on the uniform front. They looked really good on TV and were a hit on social media and with public.

I look forward to their next iteration in 2024. They are great once a year uniforms.

The uniforms were a huge win, you’d have to be a real blowhard to still be arguing otherwise.
