He has the potential to be a big-time receiver for us. Really like this pickup.

There is some baggage and assuming he will need to sit a season.
Hopefully he can keep his nose clean for 3 years.

He was busted with pot. That is such a lame crime nowadays. In my opinion he has no baggage.

Why are we so focused on the receiver position? Feels like we have 50 receivers on our team.

But do we have any really good ones who aren’t juniors or seniors? With the possible exception of the JC slot we signed who will be a soph, I’m not sure our two-deep WRs won’t be upper classmen. There’s Stevenson, Corbin (not listed on roster; is he still with the team?), Singleton, Bradley, Smith, and McGowan, all jrs or srs.

If we can develop talent, then yes. Street, Morgan, Williams, Sawyer all looked promising when they came out. Also, Corbin is on the roster.

Didn’t James Cleveland come with “baggage”.

Damn, was he one Hell of a receiver!!??

Weed isn’t baggage

We need quality depth it seemed like either we didn’t have that or CDH didn’t trust the ones we did have last season.

Until the baggage pulled him back down. But yeah, he was awesome in 2009.

A misdemeanor for a small amount of pot and expired license isn’t baggage.

Coming out of high school they did, but those guys have hardly seen the field. Hopefully that’s because there are talented, more experienced receivers ahead of them. But Scott is supposedly fast and long, and I’m not sure we have that in the younger group. Morgan and Street have size but neither is a burner. I’ll give the coaches the benefit of the doubt. Either they think he’s a special player and/or they don’t feel entirely confident in the talent or depth coming up the ranks.

In TX, many district and county attorneys aren’t even prosecuting pot cases anymore due to the new “industrial hemp” statutes.

No one has the resources or facilities to test the cannabis in order to determine its THC content, which now determines, as a matter of law, whether it is pot (which is illegal), or hemp (which is legal).

So most DAs and County Attorneys have simply given up on it.

Yes it is and some allow the drug to consume them. A certain former UH receiver smoked himself right out of promising career.
.
There are numerous others who done the same including a few basketball players.

Besides it was also more decision making and he will need to do a better job here

IMHO Nathaniel Dell may surprise some people! CDH said the kid is a burner, who can really make people miss! I am really excited to see what he can do.
