Why wait. His contract ends in a month, we can reassign him or give him a month long vacation and hire our new coach now.
You can’t wait for his contract to run out.
Heard rumblings that it isn’t a certainty that Todd will be leaving. 4 years in a row of no post season and you extend Whitting? Surely that isn’t the case.
Unfortunately these rumors are often true.
The B12 is the public relations gift that keeps on giving. We were bad because we weren’t in it. We won’t do well in the beginning because we are new. Our recruiting and my coaching will get better when we get there. But I’ll need several years.
Good Lord. If Pez doesn’t have the hangers to make this move then he’s just a rubber stamp of an AD.
If the move is not made this year then I am done with UH baseball….If Pez does not care enough why should I?
I’ve been a hardcore fan for 20+ years ( I know some of you have been much longer) but I refuse to continue to watch garbage schedules with weak teams and listen ridiculous excuses.
It insults my intelligence ( which is hard to do) and I’m done with this mess.
I could understand if his contract wasn’t up. I’d still disagree but could understand.
Giving him a new contract would be absolutely ridiculous though.
This will not sit well with the rank-and-file. It may be a forgone conclusion within the Cullen Hdqrts but the people that sit in the sun will be pissed.
Why would it be a foregone conclusion? Does giving him another contract somehow save money?
It absolutely saves money. The new coach always gets an upgrade

They will lose money, fans, recruits, and years of a potential rebuild if they give him a new one.
I keep telling myself there is no way he’s back….because he would have been extended last year…you never let a coach finish out a contract if you plan on keeping him.
If they do then Pez is an idiot WAY over his head.
I think its time for a change but whatever they do a decision needs to be made fast because don’t we have a lot of seniors on this years team.
whoever comes in will demand facility upgrades and other improvements as part of their deal…looking at huge outlay not just in larger coaches salaries
They just got a brand new baseball facility.
Whoever is hired is going to be thankful for taking the move up…they are not going to “demand” anything….we are not bringing in someone of CKS’s ilk like in basketball.
Nobody is turning down a Big 12 job from a lesser one.
I continue to believe coach Whitting moves to being a fundraiser at UH with a new coach being brought in.
Whitting is still a good coach but I feel like for various reasons he is a victim of burnout.
Move him to ann office and the next coach needs to be a relentless worker, great recruiter and be able to recruit Big 12 players, especially pitchers lol.
Such a move done smoothly could certainly help the program moving forward.
Well, I just did what I could do. I sent Pezman an email to change the direction of the UH baseball program, for whatever good it does.
Not necessarily. A first-time HC may be available for the same or a little less.
Ha…Pez hires a first time coach entering the B12 to save a few bucks, this board will go absolutely zonkers!
The thing about bringing Whitting back is he’ll get a multiyear deal, 2-3 years. So if they are awful next year, now you can’t fire him probably. The Astros have given Dusty Baker two one-year deals, but Whitting won’t take a one-year deal I’m sure.
I just have a feeling that we are not going to like how this is going to go down. There should have been a move made by now.
Waiting on an announcement hopefully tomorrow
