Next Head Coach

And for those telling how good we were this year we just regressed from 2022 final RPI of 77 to 2023 final RPI of 102.

We fired Rayner Noble after 16 years, his record was 551-420. He made 8 Regionals and 3 Super Regionals

Whitting has been here 13 years and has a record of 418-310-1. He’s made 4 Regionals and 1 Super Regional.

Pezman better hurry, as there are other programs wishing to go in a new direction, as well. Of course, that’s expecting Pezman to make a decision to go in a new direction.

Is he fired yet??

I really don’t know if Whitting should go or not, don’t know of a replacement either.
But I do remember he applied for the HC position at UT a few years ago. While I guess that’s understandable it just doesn’t sit well with me.

He doesn’t even have to be fired. His contract is up.

He doesn’t have to be fired. His contract expires on June 30th this year. We just don’t renew and he is out of the job. We can go ahead and find his replacement now. I hope Pez has Sean Allen on speed dial.

Sounds good to me!

Not gonna do it on Memorial Day Weekend….

Pez will call him in, give him a chance to talk to the players first.

Can’t tell much from this, coming back or happy where the program is heading for the new guy?

“Todd Whitting on @UHCougarBB after losing to Tulane in the AAC semifinals, with UH heading into the Big 12 next season: “The culture of the program, and you can tell by the way the kids play, that we’re moving in a great direction. I’m looking forward to the Big 12. I think…”

Even if 6 to 8 teams from the B12 make regionals we won’t be as a #12 to # 14 team. CTW needs to go.

I didn’t realize we missed the tournament 11 of the 13 years. Other than the Super Regional team that lost in Austin, sounds like its been a pretty mediocre tenure. I had tickets for about 7 years and always seemed like it ended in disappointment.

It’s 9/13. We made a regional in 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2018. Still not acceptable though.

We were a solid program from 2013-2019. We were trending up early in that period and down later. The key to the success was pretty clearly Frank Anderson.

His excuses are disgusting.

Acting like he had no control over having a better RPI.

Dude you just lost to one of the worst teams in the country TWICE in a few days to get ousted.

Yeah, he played a garbage OOC schedule. That’s on him.

He and Pierce were the 2 finalists. Texas had an interm AD and facilities were outdated and so they were on 6th/7th on list.

You can’t wait that long to hire a new coach. All of the good coaches will have been hired somewhere else.

That line about the Big 12 giving you a better chance to build your RPI is a load of…
If he was concerned about anything other than winning %, his RPI team sheet wouldn’t look like it does.

Sean Allen didn’t seem to coach well at UT or OSU. Did he?

I vote for UTSA or TX State coach.

Two years ago he was the Assistant Coach of the Year in D-1 baseball.

He also has good relationships here in Texas
