Next Head Coach

It just looks itchy to me. And the red in the middle of summer just reminds me of going shopping at Sakowitz downtown with my grandmother. Me with my corduroy pants and itchy red polyester polo shirt sweating like a donkey on full pack-out in Arizona.

I had a couple pairs of shoes fall apart because the glue melted during one of those long tournament days coaching the bases. Catchers have it the worst.

It takes time to put it in writing. I don’t think UH or Todd thinks anything is in limbo.

A firefighter buddy of mine put a laser type thermometer on the turf one day. It was probably 95 degrees outside and very humid. The turf was measuring 130+ degrees.

I’ve heard stories of umpires wearing special insoles to keep the bottoms of their feet from burning and the soles of their shoes melting. The turf gets crazy hot and I think most people don’t know that!

I can confirm that. When we played tournaments at UH my feet were cooking in coaches box. I remember therm temp of 127…not a fan or the turf fields but you got to have them here

Because grass is too expensive to maintain?

Usage and weather.

Screw that. I say go back to grass. Rice did.

Rice plays on brand new turf!

Frankly, I wouldn’t care what kind of field that UH plays on, if we only had a top coach that could take us back to post season play and wins.

I’ve seen turf melt in back yards, usually when it’s in an area where there is a reflection from direct sunlight off of a stainless steel grill or a window. If i remember right, it starts to melt at 180 Fahrenheit.

Couple of things you can do to prevent it…
Use an infill like a T-cool, that absorbs water and releases it when in dry, direct sunlight. Cools turf up to 40 degrees.
Create shade from the most intense sunlight.
Irrigate, irrigate, irrigate.

Well, my D3 undergrad college recently put turf on its own baseball and softball diamonds.

At the amateur level, there appears to be a trend towards turf over grass on diamonds.

There are a ton of teams playing on the all turf fields around the country.

Because hiring a big name Astro worked so well for Rice and HBU…

Maybe our next head coach hasn’t been born yet.

So you’re saying an embryo is gonna coach the team next year?
