Not Fritz

They said a top 10 win on the road.

Someone above said they said it was Texas in 1979, but that game was in Houston and Texas won 21-13

In 1978, #8 Houston beat #6 Texas 10-7 in Austin

It was Arkansas in 1979.

The wife and I attended that game.

By the by the announcers then went on to say we played Joe Montana and Notre Dame in The Cotton Bowl after that season.

Of course we played, and defeated, Nebraska in The Cotton Bowl after the 1979 season.

Our 1978 team played Notre Dame.

And is that generally considered the greatest UH football team of all time?

The espn production last night was barely better than the worst espn2 productions. ESPN uses a mix of its own staff and outside contractors, and how much of each depends on the event.

Outside vendors

  • Production trucks and equipment: Many productions use mobile trucks and gear from third-party companies such as NEP, Game Creek Video and Bexel, rather than ESPN-owned trucks.
  • Freelance crews: Camera operators, replay and audio technicians, graphics operators, directors and producers are often freelancers hired per event.

Clearly espn did not want to pay the money for a production worthy of two ranked teams including an unbeaten team.

ESPN said it was Texas a couple of times.

Guys, guys
quit quoting those clown asses.
I had rather listen to a real four-hoofed jackass speaking at the rotary club than listen to them narrate a football game.

Abominable.

Should have gave us Bob Wischusen. Then again he normally calls the 11:00 a.m. games.

The Arkansas game, was that the blocked field goal?

Yes it was. Last play of the game. Think that Turner blocked it.

Im pretty sure we were ranked in 78 and Texas was ranked when we beat them in Austin, 10-7. Was aggie ranked when we beat them in 79? They had a real good team that year
I know Michigan State was ranked when we beat them in 67, and i am sure we were ranked, as well. We played them early in the year and in 66 they had the best team in the country, along with Notre Dame, who they tied. They went on to have a bad year after we beat them so bad, but at the time, it was a big deal when we beat them. No offense, but i am sure there are others you missed. For many years the AP and UPI only had a top 10
There was no top 20.

@JohnnyCougar is correct. It was Hosea Taylor’s helmet that blocked the Arkansas FG.
