Nunez statement about TW

I’m soooooooo looking forward to it!!!

My reaction to statements like that is “yeah, yeah, yeah”. Just get a new better coach already. The fans and student athletes deserve far better than what has occurred over the last 5 years.

The Vote of Confidense…aka kiss of death

Honestly, is it even a vote of confidence?

Seems more like a statement to all the baseball fans that are tired of him and want a change….like, letting us know he is on notice.

I have been to 3 games the past 10 days, sat behind dug out, watched players react to players, coaches to players and they seem to love the program and play hard. We left the bases loaded in the ninth both losses in Frisco and those were one and two run losses. We beat the best team. I have heard conversations with parents and it seems like, they and a few boosters, really support the program. It seems there are a few alumni that don’t like the program.

“A few alumni “.

Get real.

Look around you and how many fans do you see?

And using parents as your data is ridiculous.

I will never cheer against a UH player doing well….

But TW does not get enough talent to come to UH….that is a fact.

We have gone over the “why’s” in depth over the last few years….feel free to go back and look at those conversations. I’m not going to discuss them anymore.

This team does not have pitching depth or much power as a team.

They do have a few standout players like Blake Fields who could start at most Big 12 programs.

There just are not enough of them.

And you may see a good team comradery, that is great but also expected, especially just 11 games in.
As the season progresses and certain guys don’t get the PT they want that will change as well as some of the parents attitudes….

But good for you on going and enjoying the games.

Some of you have been claiming CTW was on the way out for the last three years. Eddie Nuñez will make that determination at the end of the season. Let the season play out.

If anybody on Coogfans was a true “insider” UH would have joined the now defunct PAC 12 and probably be back in the AAC by now.

Just support the team!

“…as he understands that our results next year must be better.”

I took that the same way you did.

“If anybody on Coogfans was a true “insider” “

You are 100% wrong on this.

And yes, many of us have wanted him gone for the last few years or so….but I don’t recall anyone on this board saying he was guaranteed to be fired the last few years……so what are you talking about?

I’ll wait.

It’s like deja vu all over again.

Just what I observed.
We have played hard, and left bases loaded for two games in the 9th.
Hoffman is the real deal, and we have some power hitters.
Baseball never had many fans, so when you get alumni not supporting,
this is what you get. We had as many fans in Frisco as anybody, a ranked
OSU , Iowa and Bama. At least we beat the best team.

Baseball did have fans we even had guys walking the stands and selling concessions. It has all gone to crap since Anderson left.

i guess I am remembering the 80’s when I was in school, not much support then. But I always enjoyed watching a game, played since I was Little League to HS. I have been in Plano the last 35 years and rarely get to see a game anymore.

I remember the guy walking around yelling “Ice cold beer, get it while it’s hot!”

You must not have been here during the Noble years.

You said “it seems there are a few alumni that don’t like the program”.

You didn’t observe that.

And it is false.

again, only what I observed. I am no insider by any means.

You could say the same thing for basketball starting in the late 80s and continuing for most of 3 decades. That’s what happens when the admin ignores a program and tolerates (and rewards) underperformance.

Baseball had much better support when they fielded competitive teams, even when we were in the AAC. That support died off with chronically weak teams and the refusal to take action to fix it.

This isn’t a fan problem.
