Off The Fritz Bandwagon

I was very happy when we hired Willie Fritz and encouraged when we beat TCU. At Kansas Saturday all that positive emotion evaporated when the Cougars made a 1-5 KU team look like the Green Bay Packers. With the exception of TCU and a seriously undermanned Rice team, we returned to form with lackadaisical play, and uninspired everything. Even Fritz’s post game radio interview sounded like it was with someone who was talking about a game he had not attended. I’ve read all the stuff about how late he was hired, Dana’s players left, etc. I never expected this season to be anything other than a mulligan. I did expect to see disciplined play and execution even when losing to more talented teams. Instead, we get an underperforming staff that set records for futility when they found a way to go 8 quarters without scoring. So I am off the Fritz train. I will go to the games because our tickets are paid for but will bring a book to read.

Yeah it will be interesting if we keep our top recruits and how we do in the portal game.
If we can’t chore up our OL and QB spots it will be another long and we will be a year closer to losing our big boy pants

Every new coach gets ONE “freebie” sucky season.

Even Sampson got one.

I’ll admit I am very disappointed in what he has shown so far. I was excited after the TCU performance, but then a dismal game at Kansas after two weeks rest. He will get three years but I’m beginning to wonder if he’s the right guy?

I hate this line of thinking.

We haven’t even looked like we belonged in 4 of our 7 games. But he gets his “sucky” season.

What a loser mentality.

How long was Dana there? It will take that long to get the Dana out. Sorry. Settle in and bite down hard. Its gonna hurt.

Everyone knew this year would be a crapshoot. We hoped for better, sure. But the reality is that it’s gonna take some time to get “his” guys on the team that fit his system. He’s started slow everywhere he’s been, but in every stop has had success - 5 conference titles on 4 different teams. Not to mention turning freaking TULANE into a winner. Just give him some time.

I think what we need as a fanbase is more polarization.

Whiners going to whine. What were you expecting? 10-2? If you thought we were going to have a good team this year, you haven’t been paying attention. Almost every publication had us picked last or near last for a reason.

On again off again each week. Maybe keep an even keel and realize this team was picked last in the Big 12 for a reason. This is a Dana season and need a year for Fritz to bring in his own group of players. So maybe one more upset the rest of the way but mostly not and a 3-9 record.

I get it. We all were hoping for a Herman type takeover but it is too early to declare him a failure. Like I have said before, watch his recruiting classes. If we fall precipitously down the ranks by signing day, then that will be cause to worry.

Also, #TrustTheProcess. Rome wasn’t built overnight.

Elmo Wright told me if Fritz was smart, he wouldn’t think short term and do everything to win 6 games right away if it costs the program in the long run. He would take time to build the right foundation, even if it meant losses.

You know a surefire way to make sure no decent coach ever thinks of touching the program? Firing them after one year because they could not turn it around that fast.

With the portal, the justification for a sucky first season does not exist.

Coaching CFB means winning fugging games, or at least being competitive.

I bet you were one of the guys critical of coach sampson year 1

CKS didn’t have the portal and the facilities were a joke.

He had a FULL rebuild on his hands.

It is so easy even Holgorsen could do it.
