I don’t understand why you use how many season ticket holder we had last year. How many do we have this year? I’d be willing to guess it’s the fewest of any B12 school and probably not that far off the fewest of any P4 school.
Also if we’re just using tickets sold the basketball attendance was 3k+ prior to Sampson.
Using it for context to compare the fan support the season before CWF took over vs the support the season before CKS took over.
Using last year as the bench mark is a bit misleading. Our five year average is probably a truer reflection of our fan support. That would be 27k. Dead last in the B12. Bottom 5 in the P4. For Hoops, Sampson walked into a program averaging 3.5k a game. Also horrible and would’ve probably been 2nd or 3rd worst in the American. Highlight the differences between the situations if you want but attendance woes is a commonality.
We didn’t lose that game because of QB play.
We lost it mostly due to lack of a running game, caused by a bad OLine with only one starter returning.
If we had had even 150 rushing yards to go with Smith’s 260 passing yards, we likely win.
Problem?
We only had 58 rushing yards. Pathetic.
NO QB would have changed that such that we would have won.

Every pre-season prognostication had us at our near the bottom.
That we aren’t last place now with a possibility of a few more wins is almost a miracle in and of itself.
I think Smith was really good against OU is because OU decided not to blitz.
