Off The Fritz Bandwagon

That’s not true. The portal just opened. And there were plenty of options at QB. Jordan McCloud was set to be a Coog but wanted to see if Miami would get Cam Ward. We got tired of waiting and pivoted to Chriss.

Jo, do you really think those star players didn’t have any idea where they would be going when they entered the portal? Did you not think they already knew X amount of big time teams were talking in their ears or their parents ears, etc. Come on Jo, you know better than that. As for McCloud, I can understand Fritz taking the bird in hand instead of hoping for the one in the bush.

You critic’s need to realize something it takes time for some coaches to adjust to the competition, ( other words other coaches and their style of playing the game) unless you’re a Cignetti. WF will figure it out. He’ll assemble the right staff. He’s bringng his recruits. Next year. He’ll get his act together. Almost certain.

One of the things I said a few weeks ago and I don’t like to keep writing is, I firmly believe we have way too many solid athletes with poor football IQ. The mistakes I see being made…There is no doubt in my mind that Fritz and co know how to coach. Seeing the mistakes I see, it has to be frustrating for the coaching staff when they know they are using every angle they can to make the players better and sometimes it just doesn’t take.

There’s a reason why a lot of those players were in the transfer portal and weren’t starters a lot of them

Wasn’t Cincinnati 3-9 last year?

My two points.

  1. I’ll hold my judgment on this season when the season is complete. Right now I don’t have the full picture.
  2. It seems obvious to me that it’s a lot easier to go from crapdapulous to grand in basketball than in football because of how more players you have to have in football.

Holgerson got fired and 32 players transferred out including our best WRs who are having good seasons at their new teams. We have no idea what kind of team we would have had this year if he had stayed. I’m certain we would not have been shut out two games in a row.

Willie needs to start coaching a lot better. Blaming Dana is just a way to deflect from the poor job so far.

There were a lot of teams that had bad records last year and now have winning records/

I agree with this. I think the administration that unexpectedly fired CDH has at least an equal share of the blame for the “bare cupboard”.

Some coaches that went from G5 to P5 (now P4) walked into a pantry so full of stars they were almost guaranteed to have good starts. Jim Tressel at Ohio State comes to mind.

At what point do we take Tilman and Khator out of the process of hiring football coaches?

Just in the past decade alone, we had to deal with Levine, Applewhite, Holgorsen, and currently Fritz.

That is 3 bad hires vs 1 good hire in Herman.

Relax, tcoog. Fritz has coached 7 games. Way too early to be calling him a bad hire.

Yes, bur CKS coaches an enrirely different sport where he only has to manage 11 players/personalities …not close to 65.

Too late!

Getting shutout 2 games in a row and losing to random flyover state schools will lose the fanbase real quick.

Maybe two or three in this new NIL and Transfer environment and new conference.

It would have been a lot tougher for Sampson if he would have been in the big 12 those first few years.

Closer to 105 on the roster

Can we all agree there is a difference between wanting a guy fired and wanting to see something better than a throw-away season?

Probably not. :grinning:
