Old Cougar field

I will say this, right now, I don’t think UH can compete with TCU, Tech, Baylor and OU for talent. They have been too down for too long. That doesn’t mean we can’t have a much better roster than we have right now. There are so many kids in the Houston and Valley area, who are D1 baseball players, who would give one of their lungs to play at UH. Why we recruit the areas that we do makes 0 sense and it is a huge reason why we haven’t been successful. Every thing about this program needs to be changed in order for it to be at the level it should be at. Hopefully, once we get some money from the Big 12, we will make a move with TW. I certainly don’t see a breakthrough coming this season. I know there are some concerns about the WBB team, but this needs to be taken care of ASAP and should be number one on the list. This once proud program needs to go back to the program it should be!

It is a very nice stadium. The UH stadium doesn’t even compare with that stadium. Not even close.

Two very different budgets between those programs…

Maybe I did not articulate my post well enough baller….by no means to I think we can recruit at the same level as those schools right now.

I’m simply saying most boys see Texas teams in the Big 12 relatively equal in their eyes….once you get past UT, A&M, LSU and a few others, the top D-1 talent in the state will go to any other B-12 school( especially the ones from Texas)….

Just give them a reason to come….and that starts with establishing a solid rapport with their coaches.

I agree with that. Kids in the Houston area, who are at that talent level, are willing to go to UH to be closer to home. As you are saying, they are not doing anything to entice the good players to go here.

Exactly, exactly, exactly. HS coaches have a big influence on their players. If the area HS coaches had former students at UH they could come to see them play at the next level and bring some of their current players with them. That could be a huge pipeline for us, maybe UH could even come up some promotional events.

I actually have the old signage from this field.
The baseball off the press box & the UH on the side.

As an undergrad, wish I went to more games but just didn’t seem appealing because they seemed mediocre.

Hoping we can fire Whitting and start fresh.

All the best everyone,
