Orange Parking Garage, good idea?

Got a phone call from Cougar Pride yesterday. Young lady told me that CP giving year was coming to a close at the end of this month. Anyway, she says I was $50 away from the next giving level.
Ok, she says with only a $50 donation I can move up from green parking lot in football and the blue parking in basketball to the orange parking garage for both! While it sounds enticing, I took the Orange garage for basketball, but moved from the green BACK to the blue lot for football.
I’ve experienced the after game experience in the orange garage with some friends that always have parked there, and I did not think that is a way I want to spend 30-45 minutes after a packed football game getting out of that garage.
My thinking is the 7,000 for basketball attendance, and the cold and rainy winter months during basketball season, make the 16 home games a good idea for the Orange garage.
What do others think about their experiences in the Orange Garage after a football game?

The overselling of the Green lot for football made that option a nightmare for season ticket holders, didn’t feel like it was any sort of upgrade over the Blue Lot.

I like it. But I get there 3 hours before kickoff so I park on the 2nd level close to the exit. I never have a huge problem getting out of the garage.

I quit parking in the garage because of basketball. I got home at least 30 minutes early last season when I got out of the garage. No way would I do it for football. I can’t ever recall the Green Lot being oversold last season.

I like the garage. Of course my drive home is 6 or 7 hours and my mobility aint great so it takes me a while to even get in my car so half the garage is gone by the time I fasten my seat belt. 30 minutes difference is not a major concern for me. I hate the cold particularly if it’s wet out so the shorter walk for BBall is another plus for these old bones.

Edit:
Which is more stressful?
1.Sitting in traffic trying to wedge into tight spaces while occasionally pissing off other drivers or…
2.Taking your time to get in your car and waiting about the same amount of time as you do in traffic in the garage until you see it’s easy to leave?
For me it’s the latter but then that’s also part of why I left Houston in the 70’s.

Just say no… to garage parking.

Not even sure why that’s considered an upgrade to the lots…

Was my original thinking Kyle in relation to football but the walk is a breeze and why some people love it I’m sure. I asked because I think I could still have time to change my mind this week if the pros overwhelmed the cons. It’s those times sitting with my friends before they ever made it out to Scott Street and I-45 that have me soured.

Really appreciate the feedback from all.

If I lived in Houston I’d be tailgating every game so I’d choose the lots all day, every day…

A lot depends how far down you are to the street level. If you are towards the top and leave at the end of the game, forget it. I’d say if you are there early enough to park low which is 2 or so hours early you can get out relatively quickly.

Hmm, never got any calls about upping my donations this year. Didn’t the calculation period end in June?

RD - You’ve now seen me say it here many times but we’ll throw it in again: We’re grateful for all contributions!

If you’re able and willing to make that additional contribution, you’ll join many others we’ve spoken to in the last couple of weeks who have taken part of the Next-Level effort. Every gift makes a difference.

If you make the contribution and move up to be eligible for Orange parking, we can always ‘downgrade’ your parking to another spot. The $50 would need to be in by July 31 but you would have more time to make that parking determination.

Either way, appreciate all you’ve done for the Coogs!

Jeff, already did it brother, before I even got off the phone. Was not complaining about the phone call at all. I want them to reach out to us, makes us feel valued. Love helping anyway that I can.

I only have one overlap this season in Fort Worth. Hence the interest this season over last.
Not driving 4+ hours for Grambling so it doesn’t count.

I like parking in the garage, On hot summer early season games my car doesn’t feel like an oven when I get in. On the days when it’s pouring down rain, I can suit up my rain gear before going out into a deluge. Same when I get back to the car. I can take it off outside of the car and not get soaked.

As for the time to exit, it’s no big deal for me. I don’t leave the stadium until the band leaves so a lot of it has emptied before I get to my car, especially on days when we have about 30K or less. But to each his own.

Thanks for your input! It definitely sounds like an individual decision if one is fortunate enough to have the choice and you bring up some very good points Mike.

I like the parking garage for basketball. Its faster in my opinion since they were doing all that construction in the lots. Ive used both. With the weather the garage is a dream but its further from my seat assignment. I believe that every option has its pros and cons, it just depends on what you’re looking for.

Protection from weather
Park closer to club
Wait 20-30min to get out
For older people due to the distance and access to elevator, ramp, and first floor.

Out in the open
Longer walk but entrance is closer to the opposite side of the club
Getting out takes 20-30min
For older people it might be a longer walk

To me it basically breaks down to whether or not you tailgate at your parking spot, or not…

If you do then I think the lots are better… plenty of room to grill, throw the football, setup a pop-up & TV, etc…

If you don’t then the garage is probably better…
