As I’ve said before.
ND v. USC was the ONLY “intersectional” rivalry of any consequence.
Without that…ALL rivalries will now be regional.
That was the one exception, and now it’ll be gone.

What are you arguing about?
With that mindset you have 16 teams tops battling out for the big salad bowl.
Not arguing about anything.
Just stating a fact, one that Cullen has argued about in the past, which is that ALL major rivalries with ONE exception (ND v. USC) are REGIONAL.
With the loss of ND v. USC, ALL will now be regional.
You understand what you are promoting?
You are promoting what espn wants.
Man I sure hope that a billionaire buys the best players for a g5 program and wins the cfp. espn and the cfp deserve it.
Fresno State National Championship, that would be awesome.
How does saying that all rivalries are now regional have anything to do with ESPN?
It’s simply a statement of fact.
Take a pause and think about the last 90 years of college football. The way it was intended to be.
Pity.
Perhaps BYU can be the new USC for ND.
No that is not the point law. espn is reinventing what made college football so unique.
The moment we go 32 teams I will never watch college football again.
Not sure how a school from Utah playing a school from Indiana is regional?
…but I really like it, the two biggest non-Protestant school facing off.
I never got behind USC/ND so I don’t really have an opion on that one
Is ND vs. BYU a rivalry? I wouldn’t say it is.
Maybe it could become one…you know….with a religious theme.
They could even have a trophy.
It could have a round base with a Theodore Hesburgh figurine on one side, and a Brigham Young figurine on the other.
It isn’t.
But now that the ONE major intersectional rivalry of any real consequence is history…perhaps an intersectional religious rivalry (ND v BYU) could replace it.
Anyway, unless and until it does, all rivalries will remain regional.
UCF is trying to start a rivalry with us with the Space Game.
How are things becoming more regional?
Seems like the opposite is happening
Yes, you are correct the exact opposite is happening because of…the dirty rodent.
UH v UCF would be a southern/southesstern regional rivalry.
Please, please don’t force UCF as our main rival. Make it Tech. Hell I’ll take TCU. Colorado. But not UCF. That’s weak.
Oh…so you mean one far away region vs another far away region and not schools inside the same region?
Intersectional means two teams from completely different sections or “regions” of the country.
Until now, there was only one intersectional rivalry of any real consequence: USC v ND.
Now that it is gone, perhaps ND v BYU could replace it, with a religious twist.
They could play for the “Holy Relic” Trophy!
Depends on how cool/dorky a space themed trophy could be created for it.
Imagine the two teams playing for a giant model Starship Enterprise trophy!
Also ND vs Stanford
Also Convicts vs Catholics
Also USC vs Texas.
