OT - Houston Rockets

And why is Whitmore not getting minutes but 80 year old Jeff Green is ? Bullock is? WTF?

There’s a chance this is an overreaction, but I’m getting dangerously close to considering Jabari Smith a bust. For the #3 overall pick, I don’t think he’ll ever even sniff an All-Star appearance. And that play last night where he was one-on-one in the paint against Curry and opted for a fadeaway???

Our last 3 lottery picks are:

Jalen Green-an elite scorer when he cares and not much of anything else.

Jabari Smith - ok at a few things but hardly elite at anything (certainly not free throw shooting)

Amen Thompson - who outside of the 1st quarter of last night’s game has been in the witness protection program.

I don’t think the Rockets know what they are doing.

We’ll see.

I hope he’s right.

The blame starts with the owner.

Lol slow down and give it time. Basically have to throw last year away due to the coaching staff not running anything for him and just sticking him out there to get scraps. The young guys are being reprogrammed by Ime and the new staff. It’s going to take some time.

I get that, but I would expect 2 years of previous experience against NBA competition there would be some improvement. I just don’t see it with him. I do hope you’re right though. We’ve all suffered through a series of tank-a-thons, so these picks need to work out for us!

This is Jabari’s 2nd year and most bigs come along slower than guards typically. I’m more worried about Jalen Green but we will see how this year plays out.

He is SUPER young as well……just turned 20.

Let’s see where he is in two years.

Jalen does not seem to know his role….I don’t know if it’s a personality thing or what, but he won’t take the lead….like common kid, grab the bull by the horns and get aggressive.

Green doesn’t commit to switching on defense. Always late.
New coach is no nonsense but Green plays or they have no chance.

sRockets court for in season tourney.

Give this coach time he’ll right the ship.

Yeah, very ā€œRalph Sampsonā€ and ā€œPorzingisā€ like.

Those guys were also unicorns. I will pray for the kid’s knees.

This.

To me, that is what Udoka is here to do. The best thing he did in Boston was tell Jason Tatum to take charge and be the man. He took that step and now look where he is.

Udoka needs to do that with Jalen. If he is not our best player, we will not go anywhere.

I love Alperen but based on what I have seen the first three games, he cannot be effective for more than 28 minutes. Dude was a foul machine 4th and OT because he was dead tired and was playing with his hands on his knees.

Jabari - I don’t even know. He has so much skill this dude should be a all NBA player with his ability to shoot and his size. But like many 4’s, he is too afraid to get dirty. All these dudes want to be Dirk and Bosh.

Udoka needs to get these three dudes on the same page. I don’t want Van Vleet taking that many shots. He is undersized, slow and not a good shooter.

Definitely. At least Smith shows an interest in playing defense. Green’s basically just a inefficient volume scorer. Thankful we at least seem to have hit on Sengun because otherwise our recent draft history wouldn’t be looking so hot.

So these guys buying into the coach and figuring it out now?

Defense has been better….and the scoring has been spread around….not depending on one or two guys……I really like their play right now….hope this is the NEW Rockets :rocket:.

I think that is a big part of it. The other side is the Kings and the Lakers were playing without their best player.

However last year, they would have lost by 20 to both teams. Last night’s Jalen Green is amazing to watch. Getting Eason back helps tremendously.

Why isn’t Cam getting more minutes? WHEN he’s in there, he performs. THUS FAR, Amen’s been a bust. His brother not so much.

Cam has been sent to the D League. Amen is hurt, but I agree with you other than spurts he has been less than impressive.

However a big part of that is the American basketball system. They aren’t ready when they get to the NBA. The NBA isn’t a good training ground.
