OT - Houston Rockets

Jalen Green is a peculiar player.

Are we learning something with Sengun being out?

Maybe it’s a fluky schedule thing, but the team has been pretty effective when they’re not playing through Sengun.

Officials are being instructed to call less fouls for the offensive player. Favors defensive teams.

Shead and Roberts sitting courtside with Fertitta at the game tonight. Go Coogs!!!

Rockets make it 9 in a row! Play in hopes are back on.

That is exactly what I have been thinking
Sengun has been a great individual production player but it is very hard to ignore the win streak with him out - and the balance [and production from some players that have previously been MIA]

To be fair, the last 9 games have been against mostly weak competition, aside from Cleveland and Sacramento. But the Rockets had lost to those kinds of teams all year, and they’re clearly playing better.

The closing 11 games will tell the story - they won’t be backing into the playoffs against those teams.

Make it 10 in a row with a huge win @OKC. Rockets have found their Sampson in Ime. Dude can flat out coach.

I don’t know. They didn’t really start winning until Sengun’s injury forced a change in the lineup. They’re hot right now, for sure.

That’s certainly something to watch. However, I’m also mindful of the fact that the Celtics team he coached to the finals only started off 25-25. They came on late in the year so we could be seeing that play out with the Rockets (obviously a less talented version). Also I can’t help but feel like the leagues decision to let defenses be more physical (which started a couple weeks ago) is benefiting the Rockets more than some of the other teams in the league.

Damn exciting game for the Rockets to get their 10th straight.
Green playing like the best player in the league and doing this without Sengun, Adams and Whitmore, Eason.

He and Ssngun will not have an issue playing together.
This is about changing his mindset not chemistry. He is playing out of this world and has officially become top dog on the team.

I like Alpi, but the team plays better without him. It is not necessarily his fault; he is who he is.

Alpi would be great playing with the Lakers or Heat, where they slow it down.

All of the Rockets top players not named Alpi need space to operate, especially in the paint. Because of his lack of speed and his unwillingness to shoot threes, he tends to clog the paint.

If he would shoot more threes and play at the elbow and not deep in the post, it could work. We will see.

Also, Jock Landale is a better run protector than Sengun.

Not remotely accurate and you will see

Another Coach coming out of nowhere. They are not a better Team without Alpi.
Green is finally getting it n reading the Defense better. Taking better shots, going to the rim aggressively etc.

Edit: if the Astros win 8 or 9 in row without Yordan & Altuve it doesn’t mean they are a better team bc those 2 are not playing.

You just described a bunch of things they’re doing that make them a better team. Whether it’s because Sengun is out or other reasons remains to be seen, but they’ve been a better team since he went out.

I’d like to think that everyone who is playing better would continue to do that with Sengun back in the lineup. They just haven’t proven they can do that.

Green is better in transition than he is in half court.

His defense has improved from atrocious to merely bad.

True. He’s also very inconsistent. He’s just been really good the last few weeks.

Green’s court awareness has improved dramatically. Seems he now understands what Teams are trying to do to him or the Rocket’s. I thk overall his effort is :100: better , but still staying within the team concept on what is wanted from the Coaching staff. Something clicked bc he’s been very consistent w his Team play. Haven’t seen him sulk n put his head down on way to bench when Coach would pull him in tight game. Coach Ime has little CKS in him

" tough love " but they’re responding in very positive way.

Edit: he should have finished in double digit assist if some of those plays would hsve finished under the basket
where’s Alpi !!! :smile::smiley:

It’s easy to forget that Green is younger than most of the Coogs’ starters.
