It is great but will be greater.
Often, renovation is much more expensive than demo & rebuild, especially if there is asbestos removal included.
I think they mentioned a tear down and new replacement
And it could be another 5-10 years before the towers are demolished.
Looking at the master plan, I think they will demolish Moody dining hall after the new dining hall is completed. In place of Moody dining hall, they will build new dorms in the shape of an E in the image below.

Do not want a major eye sore on campus for the 100 year Celebration. Probably 2027-28.

Externally, the towers arenât an eyesore. Theyâre on the shortlist of most recognizable buildings on campus; itâs probably towers/architecture/ezekiel cullen in some order.

Not to imply they are an eyesore, they are the most recognizable buildings on campus, but to tear them down now would be a major eyesore for the 100 year Celebration when the campus is starting to look great.
Those towers were very iconic for UH, hate to see them go. UH could do a rebuild ala NYC twin towers rebuild and just build one larger tower.

Do yall remember when they had escalators in Agnes Arnold? They were always broken. I think they replaced those with stairs around 20 years ago. Not sure if they redid the elevators then too or not.

This is perhaps the most controversial of my many unpopular opinions on this board, but I loved the towers, if only because communal bathrooms meant they were always cleaned, and never by me.
Also, the mustiness builds character. Something feels conceptually wrong about a dorm thatâs nicer than anywhere youâll live for like a decade thereafter.
