I would like to say I am surprised at this advertising approach, but I am not as I know people do not work that way. But…

If JPMorgan Chase supports Ohio St, why do Michigan or other non Big 10 fans support JPMorgan Chase with their dollars it they are supporting a rival team?

Interesting how people see the name recognition value, but not the allegiance value in advertising. I tell my students all the time to assume their audience is stupid. This then leads into a more indepth discussion of course, not that all are actually stupid.

Big 12 schools only getting a million

Plus whatever other patch deal each school can make a deal on.

Kansas and BYU already have an additional patch.

Maybe we can get an Oxy patch like the Astros.

I view this as mega-corporate America embracing college sports and their ability to brand a product. To maximize the B12’s value, the B12 has to put more teams in the CFP, where viewship is highest. Patch deals are new and the market is being set by each new deal. I see the Ohio St. and Notre Dame patch deals more of a benchmark for, locally, Texas and Texas A&M, than UH.

As far as UH, the City of Houston has top public corporations, and top regional public corporations, that could benefit from sports branding, and student internships.

Top Public Corporations in Houston

  • ExxonMobil
  • Chevron
  • Phillips 66
  • Sysco Corporation
  • ConocoPhillips

Top Regional Public Corporations in Houston

  • Occidental Petroleum
  • Enterprise Products Partners
  • Baker Hughes
  • Kinder Morgan
  • Cheniere Energy

As long a UH sports keeps winning, the potential is there. I am sure Eddie Nunez and his staff have each one of these companies on speed-dial.

Winning is just one parameter but not the most important one. The most important one will always be how many ppl really care about this team. Winning does not also mean ppl start caring. There is a bump but is it significant.

That was a nice comeback last night!

That’s a different deal… nice try to diss the conference, though.

The monster deal is conference wide… but to your point… it does seem like Yormark might have gotten fleeced here if Notre Dame is getting the same amount for their own deal.

Eddie NEEDS to land a big deal here… so far his most notable achievement is Houston Blue merchanise revenue and most notable goof is Turfgate.

He’s riding Fritz & Samps’ coattails as far as I’m concerned so far…

Why haven’t these guys merged with Morgan Stanley or BOA?

JP Morgan Stanley and Chase Bank of America

I’d like to see us get Original Timmy Chan’s and Bayou Pawn Shop in a bidding war… squeeze every dime we can.
