OT: Ohio State lost $38 million in 2023-2024 year

They spent over $292.7 Million on athletics. I don’t think we will ever bring in $254.9 million like they did.

I wonder what “unique circumstances” caused them to overspend by almost half of what our athletic department brought in a couple of years ago. I think we had a $10MM shortfall last year against a budget of around $95MM.

It’s expensive to buy a championship.

Ohio St.'s AD once commented that star recruits were asking Ohio St. for $5,000.00, just for a recruiting visit.

I may not be the smartest person in the world, but I know one thing I would cut out immediately at Ohio St. athletics…

I don’t believe any of the numbers about college sports that the big university’s give out.

As I’ve stated MULTIPLE times, NIL via Bucket #1 is NOT Sustainable…there are not unlimited funds from your donors to “give” to a one and done player that hasn’t proven squat.

Now Bucket NUMBER TWO…that has legs and luckily for us, we are poised to be a top 5-10 Bucket #2 NIL school!

That bucket can come lead to tax savings or part of their marketing budget . We just have to tap into it and we have already received funds from Chevron, ExxonMobil, Memorial Herman plus many other smaller companies fueling our basketball NIL

Didn’t $head have NIL from Reebok?

Also, ExxonMobil here.

We should DOMINATE Bucket #2…I’m being serious, a top 5 NIL school in THAT bucket

There are so many factors at play here. Were there large cap projects on the books coming from that budget where a net loss was expected?

Also, it was for the fiscal year June 2023-June 2024. This article has no information inside the numbers. This is clickbait and poorly presented.

Turd level message boarding. Congrats, dude.

That would be in addition to paying for flights for the kid and possibly family members. Plus cost of accommodations at a fancy hotel and also fancy dinners and misc. other stuff.

I would like everyone to realize one thing.
We have done an amazing, yes amazing job with the resources at our disposal.

Actually our school motto is “In time,”… as in time we will be a national power.

Indeed.

I think we need national championships in either football or men’s basketball to enter that conversation of national power.

Ohio St lost nearly $40 million eve nwith over $200 million in revenue…

Me thinks they are not a very good business school.

Former Texas A&M and current Ohio St. AD Ross Bjork says this was a one-off, and Ohio St. Athletics will run a balanced budget moving forward. We’ll see.

If I am Ted Carter, Ohio St.'s President: “Ross Bjork, you are on the clock.”

If Ohio St can’t turn a profit UH has no prayer of ever doing it.

If Ohio State cant make a profit, then they spend too damn much. End of story…

Tell that to 90% of college sports programs. It is alarming and with the new rules DIV II schools will benefit…already are.

Actually our school motto is,
