That’s the thing. The Texans really don’t care about me and what I might want. The Texans will get their money from either me or whoever replaces me if I ever decide to drop my tickets.
I get surveys all the time and all they ask me about is the sponsors and ads I see at the game. I’ve never seen a survey about the game experience.
Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy going to the games with my wife or my son (I only have 2 seats). I enjoy the people who sit around me. It’s a good time.
You asked what the reason would be for the Texans to consider a new stadium. (Key word: Consider. Not actual new stadium but consider) I asked if you read the articles and then you sarcastically replied “What do you think?” So, supplied you with some. And you’re still upset. As if you would be paying taxes for a new stadium.
I am not upset UHCoog. I am pointing out what some of these nfl owners are. They take “hostage” an entire area with a warning that they will relocate if they do not steal our money. Because it is stealing. There are no other definitions for it.

The world has changed since NRG Stadium was built it cost $367m which was 86% from the county. Most modern stadiums are being built with 50% or more private money.
I still believe they will renovate the stadium, its from the modern era of stadium construction and the fuzzy math of 1.4 billion in maintenance is needed over the next 30 years so a new one will be cheaper is assuming a new stadium will need no maintenance for the next 30 years which is just not accurate.
Speaking of arenas the new Mavs owners have been lobbying the legislature to legalize casino gambling to be next to a potential new arena where the old Cowboys stadium was in Irving.
Their current arena opened a couple years before Toyota Center.
Funny, the City of Houston has over 2800 water main leaks (in the city alone).
For whatever reason the city cannot pay for it and has more than doubled the water cost. And they are planning on hiking it again.
The Mayor says we’re are broke.
One of the richest cities in the nation and we cannot fix mains and water treatment…but the billionaire owners need new Billion dollar stadiums n arenas and money to maintain them.
The scam needs to end until we are caught up on basic services.
Harris County owns NRG Park. The City of Houston doesn’t have a stake in it.
But your point is still valid.
As I recall, a similar argument was being made back when Bob Lanier and Bud Adams were butting heads. Back then it was a bad economy and crime, and Lanier refused to use City tax money to pay for a new football stadium. Lanier said, “if it was a good deal, private enterprise would do it.”
As far as the County, they had just finished a big renovation of the Astrodome just six years before Adams threatened to leave town. They couldn’t pay for another renovation without big tax increases.
There are needs and wants, as most of us learned growing up. New stadiums are wants, water is a need.

Oh no Daikin Park is 25 years old, time for a new one…and the Astros ACTUALLY win Championships and make it to League Championships…things the Texans have never even sniffed in their entire existence.
