OT: Texans and Rodeo May Want New Stadium

Nah, I disagree. Aeros games seemed to always have pretty so-so crowds. Dallas actually feels like a hockey vibe to me. More so than Houston.

Just renovate the Dome, buy back the rights to the oilers, rebrand, and call it a day.

From my perspective, there is nothing wrong with NRG. I wish they would open the roof more often on nice days and offer better concessions, but the stadium is fine.

Apparently, NRG needs a lot of work.

Yes it needs renovating, open your eyes. Chipping paint all over, filfthy areas and rodent issues. Heard roof issues as well.

Give NRG to the rodeo and build a football stadium downtown.

Not sure why the Rodeo needs more luxury boxes but in the end we don’t actually get a say on this in the end do we?

My opinion - let them walk

Absolutely!!!

Hockey has been successful in SoCal, Florida, Dallas, etc.

And Houston has LOTS of transplanted northerners.

But what does that mean, that they would be fans of other teams who come in, instead of the home team? Also, I still don’t see these transplants filling an 18k seat arena every game.

Kick rocks

I never get close enough to the place to see it the disrepair. Part of the reason I don’t want to pay for it. I quit watching the Texans when I saw them coached by an Aggie and using the hook em horns sign.

You’re comparing an NHL crowd to a minor league crowd? Not the same.

Of course Houston, a city of 7.5M people can support an NHL franchise, but our dear Tilman is smarter than he looks. He’s not going to be shaken down by the NHL to get a franchise here.

This isn’t a hockey town. It’s a football town.

So is Dallas

I feel like I have a pretty good grasp on sports attendance in this town.

I’d be ok if they built it downtown

Not as good as you think if you imagine that the NHL wouldn’t succeed here.

Remember, NHL has been successful in smaller warm weather markets.

No reason to think it wouldn’t be just as successful here in a larger one.

They would have to win, otherwise, they would probably like the Arizona Coyotes. Houstonians already don’t follow hockey, (majority), they won’t follow a team that doesn’t win. That’s the Houston sports fan.

Don’t be so sure.

The original WHA Aeros with Gordie Howe used to outdraw the Rockets in the Summit.

Lots of Houstonians like me follow hockey.

If the NHL can be successful in Miami, Tampa, Las Vegas, and Dallas
.then it can certainly be successful in Houston.

Houston has a better hockey infrastructure than Dallas did when the Stars moved there too.
