OT: The Dark Empire (THE Horns Down College Thread)

Agree. He was a great fit here. But in the end he kinda looked down his nose at us too.

Yep, ended up being just another Horn

We can’t go back in time. In retrospect he should have been let go right after we find out he was shopping his services. Am I naive to think that young G5 Coaches do not look at getting a P5 jobs? Yes sure. His lack of respect toward our institution after just about six months of employment is ground for dismissal in my book. Could we have proved it? That is the issue.

I heard he was selling the Big 12 very hard, like it was a done deal. Then of course lying to every guy about their role and playing time. Long term, I am not sure he would have been able to keep up all the BS.

Oh, he was definitely lying to most of the recruits about the Big12 and other things.

Biggest thing for him was to keep winning. You can peddle a lot of BS as long as you win games.

It is true that we can’t go back in time, and it appears that Herman’s agent was always shopping his services (which is how he got to UH to begin with). But, Herman’s exit strategy went full bore on October 22, 2016. That was the day when the big12 announced that, in spite of its having grandiosely staged a very public expansion campaign featuring invitations to a myriad of schools to apply for membership and come prostrate themselves before the big12’s “mighty” 10 remaining members, there would be no expansion. Herman had a giant contingent bonus coming to him, if UH became a member of a Power 5 conference while he was our coach, and it evaporated that day.

On that same day, the Cougars, who were playing their 6th game of the season and had been averaging over 44 points a game until then, lost to SMU 16-38. (SMU finished the year 5-7.) Does anyone else see a connection? - I do.

We’ve gotten pretty good at detecting when people are on their way out.

Ya hate to see it . Although I loathe Baylor so it’s kind of a lose-lose.

They’re really going to be 6-5 in Lyin’ Tom’s third year in the books. He’s running out of excuses in terms of getting his players in the fold.

If Tech comes out to play next week we could be staring at a 6-6 Texas 2019 football season. Joy to the world.

Come on Baylor hold them out of the EZ here… 24-3 looks so much better than 24-10

I agree it’s a lose lose but …haha haha…Lying TH losing yet again is fun to watch.

We met some friends there for that game. I wasn’t surprised at what happened because we all knew what was coming at the end of the season. I told my buddy they shouldn’t even let him back on the bus.

They’ll still be in the “Way Too Early 2020 Top 10” projection.

And “the Highest Rated 6-5 Team Ever”.

I’m hoping this is the time of the year then TTech finally jells and starts to peak. At least TTech is willing to play UH.
