OT: WWE & Big 12 Conference to bring Friday Night SmackDown to Big 12 markets

I hate this partnership

WWE is fake wrestling, and it should not have any relationship with college football. It doesn’t make any sense.

It’s embarrassing honestly. Just don’t understand how grown adults would tune into WWE before a football game

People watch WWE for the same reason they watch stuff like The Sopranos, its because it is entertainment. If you don’t like it, just don’t watch it. Your embarrasment is silly, in my opinion.

Still real to me damnit.

Yes, everyone knows it’s fake, but it’s entertainment. It’s just like the movies. Most movies are fiction, but we still pay to watch them for the entertainment.

Extremely ignorant take. Thank God you’re not in charge, you say its fake but I guarantee your couch potato ass can’t take those bumps.

Anything that increases eyeballs on UH/Big 12 and can add $$$ to the coffers…WIN-WIN

Look at it this way. It expands the B12 brand and exposes it to new fans. Say what you want but WWE has worldwide appeal.

You couldn’t pay me to watch professional wrestling, but it is entertainment and if it somehow helps the conference then it’s OK by me.

If it helps to get us more viewers, then so be it.

The Big 12 has to be a circus act to keep up with the P2.

It’s a play from Minor League Baseball…look at their ridiculous promotions

I’d say more like the Savannah Bananas than Sopranos… or soap operas…

seems like no big deal to me, the wwe isnt playing on the campuses.

now, if university cheerleaders and bands are showing up in the wwe arena, then its a problem; you dont want a colleges athletics associated with wwe.

You put them on before and hope the tv stays on the same channel after… once the WWE fan has gone back to insulting people on reddit from their mother’s basement…

To compete with the big behemoths, B1G and SEC, you have to think outside the box. The B12 gets exposure on WWE shows and PPVs. It might lead some players to sign with B12 schools thinking they may try professional wrestling after football.

All of them are entertainment.

Why not? If it it raises funds or gets us advertising? Why do you take issue with that.

BTW, AEW (a competitor to WWE) has had events or tv tapings at the Fertita Center before.

That’s certainly not the exclusive domain of a WWE fan…

Also there is WWE collaborative merch so it can be a boon for licensing fees. They certainly had some WWE x Big 12 merch in the past, and I think there was some that collaborated with Big 12 Football Champs as well - just like how there is Disney X NCAA merch or Snoopy X NCAA merch. Why would you turn down those opportunities?

It could also be true that at least some of the other conferences named ACC, B1G, and SEC are asking themselves “Why didn’t we think of this first?”

WWE at its peak used to host Monday Night Raw at Ohio State and Penn State. Again, theres a reason why youre not the one making the decisions.
