Bullshit. If the team is doing as well as we expect, no way that happens. Look at 2016 OU game. It was 65/35 or better UH. Look at the Texas bowl last season. There is real momentum with the team and attendance at Reliant follows. That being said I want the OU game at home at TDECU. I would love the England game, but schedule a week zero with someone else.
Somebody brought up UT, OU is not UT, UT and and Texas A & M are in a different class as far as turnout in Houston. When UT played here it was a sell out with the cheapest tickets being $112, in some section that single game retailed on the secondary market for more than the season ticket price. In 2016 OU came in as number 3 playing us a ranked team in a showcase game and they did not out number us, their crowd is probably closer to TT.
I used to have sideline chairbacks on the northside, they just reduced the season ticket price of the sections from $725 to $550, I moved to Queenie’s but I hope they sell better because they had been filling them with visitors because the single game price was cheaper then the season ticket per game price.
Uh, no.
I was at the 2016 OU game, and while they had a large contingent of fans, they did NOT outnumber us.
Pretty clear UH majority; felt like a home game.
And I agree with others here who say that if they didn’t outnumber us at Reliant, then it’s hard to believe that they would outnumber us at TDECU.
Just piling on to say that I hate the thought of moving out half of a home-and-home to a neutral site. Auburn moved the home half of their series with Baylor to Atlanta for similar reasons this year and that sucks too. I don’t mind a neutral-site opener, but it should be scheduled as such. (I’m actually kind of a big fan of the thing LSU was doing for a hot second where they were scheduling two “neutral” games in decidedly non-neutral stadiums.)
All you have to do is watch the game, we were clearly the majority, like we were at the Texas Bowl vs LSU.
What you mentioned about is directly linked to the SWC era.
I was there too. It was at Reliant. We DID outnumber them and we were louder too. Unfortunately that game was an exception.
