so you think he can only win 3 Conference games?
Man…we have set the bar so low where we think a .500 season is acceptable…lol

6 or 7 wins IS a SUCKY season and will result in half empty stadiums all season long…NO BUENO
Not why CWF was brought here…He was brought here to WIN
No I’m addressing you saying we have serious problems if we don’t win 8 games this year. That’s just not true
7 wins would be a winning season with 4 conference wins.
Improvement.
Defense is still going to be good.
Offense should be much improved.
I think 8 wins is very doable….certainly enough talent to win 8 games.
Dude!
Do you like mediocrity?
WE can’t get an easier OoC schedle…not a single P4 opponent.
3 wins right there…Sharpie them in.
Then, we have a very manageable Big 12 schedule.
We do NOT play in the SEC or B1G.
We play in a P4 Conference that ONLY had one member make the College Football Playoff.
8 wins is the bar…if 5.5 ends up being true…we are just another Vanderbilt type of football program…the conference’s doormat
12-0 until I see otherwise!
Sorry pal this thing is having to be built brick by brick. If you or someone you know wants to throw a few extra million in the pot yesterday or today for football NIL and tell coach hey we aren’t going to lose any starters anymore because of money then we can roll with your expectations.
Get back to a bowl game this year. 6 or 7 wins, bowl eligible, more butts in seats, more sponsors wanting to come in, better recruiting, players wanting to stay because we’re winning, that’s how this thing is being built and that’s why coach Fritz was brought here because he has the disciple and attention to detail to execute this vision as he has demonstrated throughout his entire career.
8 or 9 wins sounds nice. Hell why don’t we just try to go 15-0 instead. I hope we do. But at the end of day, get back to a bowl game and let this ship continue to pick up speed.
I agree with you on the three non-conference wins.
As far as conference goes…
Colorado - Possible Win (they lost some hosses off last year’s team)
Tech - Likely Loss (for some reason, they’ve had our number)
Okie State - Win
Zona - Toss Up
ASU - Loss
WVU - Win
UCF - Win
TCU - Win
Baylor - Toss Up
I’m willing to go with up to four conference wins; I won’t go so far as to call the others in our favor though.
Like I said…I’D LOVE TO BE WRONG…but I know how bad we were last year.
Hell, I’d love for us to be this year’s ASU!!!
Agree offense will be improved; especially O-Line and probably QB as well, based on Spring buzz.
Defense will probably still be solid…but we did lose our best pass rusher (Cooper), and our top two tacklers (Batton and Haulcy; one of whom was 1st team all-Big 12, the other HM).
Hopefully their replacements will be just as good.
I see improvement, but I’m going to be conservative in my predictions. If we end up beating Colorado convincingly…then I’ll definitely revise my prediction upwards!
Last year we had QB(s) that could barely throw a pass + a top defense.
If the defense remains dominant PLUS an improved Offense PLUS am OoC that does not include a Oklahoma and a UNLV, then I can easily see us getting to 8 wins.
I have a 8 win squad as a good, but not great team. You’re not going to capture the hearts of the casual fan winning 8 wins as you’re not good enough to win the Conference and definitely not good enough to make the Playoff.
Yes, a 6 win squad will get a participation trophy to go to a low grade Bowl Game but i’m hoping we have bigger aspirations.
CWF should be game planning to find a way to Win every game on his schedule. Of course, he won’t win every game but for a man that, himself, says his life is ONLY Football + Family (no other hobbies), I have faith he will find a way to win 8 games!
Maybe I’m more Bullish on the CWF factor than many here
Improved offense, absolutely. It couldn’t be any worse. Nowhere to go but up.
“Dominant” defense? I hope. I dunno though. As I said, we lost our three best defensive players, though we have other good ones returning, and may get a boost from several transfers.
At this point, I’m willing to say “good” defense. I’m more reserved about saying “dominant” defense for the reasons stated.
I hope you are right though.
Nobody…and I mean NOBODY, thought our defense would be good enough to go toe to toe with Oklahoma in year one of the CWF era …and especially after following up a coach, CDH, whose recruiting strategy was on the offensive side of the ball.
Yet…we went toe to toe with a storied SEC program.
I’m trusting CWF is a defensive minded coach and his SYSTEM will always be a above average as long as he is involved in the game planning
And as I said, we lost at least the top three, and arguably four of the best five players from that defense.
I hope the replacements are just as good. If so, then yeah, dominant.
But I won’t predict that until I see them in action.
We lost nine starters off last year defense. We had some guys who got playing time last year that were good and we have some transfers and freshmen who look good. I expect us to be good on defense but may take time to gel. Good that the first two games give us time.
In addition, keep in mind that we have a new OC and new DC.
Six wins minimum due to improvement at QB. Eight or nine wins is doable depending on if we can stop people. Ten or more is doubtful due to quality of the conference.
Oregon State game will tell us a lot. Road game, right?!
We can go 2-10 as long as we beat Rice and TTech. Bowl win and I’ll pop at least one bottle.
Six to seven wins seems pretty reasonable, but of course it’s impossible to say. Arizona State was picked last in the Big 12 and was +10,000 to win the conference. If we had even a below average rather than horrible offense last year (we finished #133 in scoring offense, next to last in the FBS), we might have won six. I don’t think there’s any question that the offense is going to go from terrible to at least pretty decent. The defense will need to integrate some transfers, but we have Carlos Allen, Xavier Stillman, Everitt Rogers, Joshua Donald, Quindario Lee, Brandon Mack, and Eddie Walls up front plus Corey Platt, Jesus Machado, and Jalen Garner at LB, and while losing Haulcy certainly didn’t help, we’ve brought in NINE transfers in the secondary to go with McCutchin, Webb, and others. I think we could surprise.
I’m not taking out the sharpie on winning in Oregon St. Not being P4 doesn’t guarantee a win. Having P4 arrogance is pretty rich for Coogfams
Yes and the Beavers are anything but soft.
That’s a long haul too. Don’t know how much it will affect performance but it will somewhat. It will be a good test regardless.
The Beavers are soft…They have lost 6 of their last 7 games and have been hemorrhaging talent since they were left to die in the PAC.
here’s their 2024 results:
