Over under wins

With the NIL/portal, every team is basically rebuilding every year.

The revamped defense from both a player and coach perspective does not worry me.

The offense will be much better.

Look out Big 12!

Step forward on offense, a step back on defense. We’ll be more competitive than last year but will still struggle to get wins

From my seats here in the Mezzanine I’m more concerned with the playCALLER. This has D’nofrio, Skaldany, Stewart vibes to me.

I’m not going to make any assumptions about that stuff without seeing a game or two this season.

CWF is a Defensive Coach…he runs the defense with a DC of his choosing.

It’s like Offensive coaches that hire an OC in a limited role

Armstring might be our next Shannon Dawson

I’m still undecided about CWF, but hopping for the best. With our pretty soft schedule 7 wins is the minimum number that would show progress to me. Without injuries 8 to 9 wins should be possible.

I agree. Those thinking we will win only 5 or 6 games, blows my mind.

This is our third year in the Big 12, 2nd year with this coach (an a full recruiting cycle), we play in the NIL era where you can flip rosters in one off-season plus we play in the 4th best P4 conference.

Now if we were in the SEC, I’d buy 5.5 wins but 5.5. wins in the Big 12 is Vegas telling us we have a bad …a really bad program…and I don’t believe that to be the case.

Not sure our program is really bad, but I’m not betting on a complete turnaround either at this point.

That’s why I predict 6 or 7 wins, NOT 8 or more.

NIL won’t necessarily turn stuff around immediately unless you have a WHOLE BUNCH of it.

If you haven’t noticed…WE DON’T.

well…good programs don’t have these 3 year stretches

2023- 4 wins
2024- 4 wins
2025- projected 5.5 wins

That’s pretty normal after you fire a coach and the new coach has to change the entire cultire of the team. I’m sure you’ll point to Indiana or maybe even 2015’s Tom Hermam but those are exceptions

Not necessarily…

The 2015 Houston Cougars went from 8 wins to 13 wins in year ONE of a new coach.

The 2022 TCU Horned Frogs went from 5 wins to 13 wins in year ONE of a new Coach

The 2023 Louisville Cardinals went from 8 wins to 10 wins in year ONE of a new Coach

The 2024 Indiana Hooisers went from 3 wins to 11 wins in year ONE of a new Coach

The 2023 Colorado Buffaloes went from 1 win to 4 wins in year ONE with a new coach and 9 wins in Year Two.

Boy, we love to make excuses for our mediocrity

I thought that was Big12 coaches poll that picked them last.
Be sure to post your Nephew’s picks so we can all get rich off of Vegas. After a 100 years running gambling, I’m sure your Nephew is the match that Vegas isn’t ready for

Probably 5, more than likely 7 or less.

So you did excatly what i said you would do. Yes there are exceptions to actually building a new culture to change a team.
How long did it take Fritz to get a 8 win season at Tulane? Did you know know he went 2-10 in his 6th season. If Tulane had fired him for that mediocrity, they would have missed out on conference titles the next two seasons.

I just grabbed a few, off of the top of my head, in addition to the two you thought I would
if you think we are a Tulane…you’ve proved my point.

Tulane had been a crappy program for a long time…with poor facilities…little resources…and little fan support.

The job CWF took over had none of those elements and plus, we play in a Power Conference meaning it is easier to turn a round because we have access to better recruits.

Next Excuse in 3…2…1…

I’m on board with CWF now but I thought Cignetti would have been the better pick so i have no choice but to be bullish on CWF.

8 wins!

Conference affiliation does not guarantee any wins

no, but being in a P4 over a G5 guarantees you have access to better recruits, as long as you don’t CDH it, in recruiting.

Compare UH’s class to Tulane’s class
