My favorite guy in the portal would be Boo Carter (out of Tennessee). Aside from that, I hope we get 2-3 really solid offensive linemen.
Who y’all got?

Who are the current best players in the portal?
@Dude if we’re adding at Wide Receiver, look at guys from the American Conference, CUSA, Sunbelt Conference with production
WRs that we get from a P4 school. Will probably have low production. And are looking for a fresh start
Wes Fritz, is in charge of roster building. Im sure he’s got a list of Targets
We’re losing close to (20) seniors who contributed alot this yr
CWF will make sure we get exactly what is needed to improve the team. I’m betting he will secure the O & D lines first and then expand on that. Go Coogs!
Isn’t Mekhi Hughes portalling? Maybe he would be a good add looking to resurrect his career with his former coaches
Key losses
1.Carlos Allen (DL)
2.Tanner Koziol (TE)
3.Dean Connors (RB)
4.Eddie Walls (DL)
5.Latrell Mccutchin Sr (DB)
6.Dalton Merryman (OL)
7.Jason Brooks (OL)
8.Matthew Wykoff (OL)
9.Wrook Brown (DB)
10.Marc Stampley II (DB)
11.Jalen Garner (LB)
12.Stacy Sneed (RB)
13.Mekhi Mews (KR/PR)
14.Zelmar Veddar (DB)
15.Blake Thompson (DB)
16.Ethan Sanchez (PK)
17.Boogie Johnson (WR) <— chance at Medical RS
18.Jacob Garza (LS)
It’s crazy how many of those guys are from this season’s portal class.
Looking forward to queuing up the joprior23 portal visits tracker in early Jan!
Well based on that list I’m assuming we’ll be going hard after lots in the DB group and both lineman groups
Who will be RB1?
He’s out of eligibility
Who is”he”?
I don’t know who the guy is, but we have to upgrade at PR/KR. Right now, that group is only dangerous to us.
I thought he meant Mews but he meant the Oregon running back
I think Burnette and Butler will get the opportunity to take it
Boo Carter…
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
Our strength in the transfer portal helps to neutralize our NIL weaknesses.
Do transfer players also get NIL?
Connor Weigman did. In fact his sponsor is new to UH, having previously supported him at A$M.
If we are deficient at NIL how will we get any transfers?
The Coogs got transfers last year.
…and I expect the “budget” has not gotten any worse…
As Willie has said, many times, in fact he said it again in the postgame presser yesterday….
“It’s all about getting guys who are the right fit. High character guys”.
Not only is it why I believe many will be surprised by some names that appear on the roster in the months ahead, but also why UH won’t lose very many of our good players to poaching.
IN OTHER WORDS… if you go after guys for the right reason, (not “just” $), you RETAIN them for the same reason…
Huge losses from this years roster. Think the talent in this team was underestimated. This team was good enough to win the big12 in my opinion.
We lose key pieces. New team, new roster, new OL next year. Need Weigman and Thomas to return to make it to a bowl next season.
They do in many cases.
But as transfer star Mike Batton said in an interview last year, our guys don’t make nearly what players make at a lot of other programs.
Weigman lucked out because he basically “rolled over” his aTm NIL to UH.
He’s an exception, not the rule.
Most transfers won’t be so fortunate.
