I agree on that.
G6 all-conference players and I-FCS All-Americans looking to move up or move back to Houston should be high on our wish list!

I’ll bet they already are…
His draft prospects are certainly way up…
Thomas will likely get paid a lot this transfer cycle.
And you can still get drafted into the NFL…
Idk… I think he stays and plays himself into a higher draft pick due to the continuity on offense here…
We’d be lucky to keep him. He’s a monster and so reliable.
Some say you create your own “luck”.
As Ken Sparks once told me…
“Luck’s got NOTHING to do with it”.
He is a starter here. No guarantees if he were to leave.
I think its very likely he takes the Matthew golden route. Bets on himself, gets paid well in the SEC, has a great year and gets drafted.
Just a thought, but…
He may actually be happy here with his team-mates, this staff, the playing time, and the obvious love of the fans.
It doesn’t always come down to 100,000 in the stands and the most NIL $.
He might even appreciate the opportunity to be a big fish in a slightly smaller pond, as opposed to risking being just another 4-star on a team full of blue/chippers. But someone already mentioned that, I believe…
Good thing about it all is that we will find out very soon.
Hope we can keep him. Fingers crossed.
@Dude you mentioned Boo Carter from Tennessee.
Dismissed from the program.
Willie mentioned he doesn’t like recruiting “turds”. Guys with attitude issues
I don’t. Matthew Golden was a Dana Holgerson recruit and Amare Thomas was brought in by Willie Fritz.
If you don’t believe that makes a difference, then I think you believe every player makes their decisions solely based on NIL; which isn’t the case…
Yes, I did.
I’ve followed Tennessee for 18 years.
Taught Army ROTC there and had 2 Sons graduate from there.
Been down on the field for games, and knew almost all of the coaches when I was there.
So…
Boo isn’t a turd.
No DUIs, no drug problems.
Some say it was all about NIL, but it wasn’t.
Boo is an exceptional athlete. A three way player. Josh Huepel wanted him to play defense only.
Boo held out for a week of practices over the summer to make his point. And Josh Huepel put him on the “s hit list”, made him “earn” his way back, which he did, and Boo was left completely out of the starting rotation even after he completed his “punishment”.
NOW, bear in mind, when Josh Heupel recruited him, he told him he would give him a shot to play offense; then DIDN’T.
Again, he’s not a turd. He’s one of the best pure athletes in college football; and deserves the chance to prove it…
Nico was a “turd”.
Boo isn’t…
In fact, after the “Nico Fiasco”, Josh Heupel went public with….
“No one is bigger than the Power T”.
Josh Heupel was also experiencing a “Nico Hangover” and was not ready to allow the locker room to divide, even though Boo had his supporters.
Josh Heupel used the players to have a “team meeting” to humble Boo, so they did it to avoid joining him on the bench.
Everyone had to pick a side, or suffer the consequences. Josh Heupel had power over the players. Boo didn’t.
Josh Heupel is a really good coach, I’d even say a players coach, but he rules with an Iron Fist and started it all by not honoring his commitment to Boo, and was too proud to accept that he brought this particular problem on to himself…
Thomas is not like every player. Hell be courted and get great offers. He is in a very unique position. It’ll be interesting to see how things play out.
At least we won’t be losing guys in the April portal after spring ball. Guys leaving will have be in by the Jan 16 deadline.
The Millionaire coogs in here, open up your check books and go shopping for next season. One of you guys have to be like the guy at Texas Tech. Just do it 1 time and lets see if we get more fans etc.
Campbell is a billionaire. Tech has several of them apparently. We are just a few millionaires here on Coogfans
We have several billionaires. Now whether they’re willing to support us is the question.
