Despite a few posters here, most serious q fans would have Truth at #1. Very consistent and the sides and dessert are almost as good as the meat. Corkscrew just earned a Michelin star (much further from campus tho) and is typically rated #2 by most.
Spots like Pinkerton and Pit Room are a notch below but still very, very good (fwiw, I eat more at Pinkertonās than any of the others).
Pappasitoās for Mexican food!
Its called Elote at BBQ spots or out of a cart.
Ok Rez, what say you about cooking corn?
Another vote for Pit Room for barbecue and Candente for Texmex.
Lol it was just a joke i.e. all that iowans know or eat is corn⦠but i appreciate the legit repsonses!
Here by far the most common method that pretty much everyone uses for in-season famer-bought sweet corn is just boiling it in salted water and then buttering it as desired while eating. But i do also grill it sometimes myself. Kind of depends what weāre having it with.
The other methods listed are interesting to me! I might try them honestly.
But for in-season sweet corn here, I think most people would probably consider doing anything āexoticā beyond boil and butter to be sacrilege
SIDE NOTE: ive watched videos of foreigners eating at Terry Blackās BBQ and they lose their mind (Iām weird). But by the looks of it you guys can recommend the real spots, and Iād be all for it! Plan to make it down for a bball game soon, but we dont play there this year I dont think.
I would park downtownā¦hit a few barsā¦.grab an 18 pack of whatever beer you drinkā¦.and take the rail. No need to deal with the cluster traffic issues. If you want food go hit Fenchys!
Terry Blackās in Lockhart is legit, but itās pretty far from anything in Houston.
OK, so I know thereās one in Houston now, but my experience with these great places branching out is that the branches arenāt as good. Maybe this one will buck the trend.
While you are stuck in traffic on your way to TDECU you can still enjoy life simples pleasures. Remember friends it is always about sharing.
No worries. Growing up we always boiled and added butter to eat.
Nowadays I usually grill it. If you want exotic here you goā¦
Little Pappasitos on Richmond and Kirby has some good fajitas. The Delmar plate is probably my favorite. There is a campus pub called āThe Denā that you could check out pregame. There might be a frat crowd there though. The area called EADO, is a few minutes from campus. Itās east of downtown and there are several restaurants and bars that you could research to check out. I have never been but I heard that āRodeo Goatā has some interesting burgers. Little Woodrowās is a popular bar.
Aggie!
No disrespect to someone who said Goode Co but there are so many better bbq places than Goode Co Bbq for someoneās first time to Houston, the first 6 pictures on yelp of their brisket is so dry, I went before and felt food was like the fast food Dickeys bbq
If your first time to Houston, please go to Pinkertons, Killens, JBarM, Truth, Brisket and Rice or Pit Room
Goode Co brisket picture on yelp, if your brisket comes out like this, please run, we Texans donāt call this dry piece of meat brisket
Iām not too fond of the school but I sure wish our fanbase was as passionate and dedicated.
Theres some really nice areas to check out
Acres Home, Denver Harbor, Airline Drive, Greenspoint, 5th Ward and Sharpstown
I donāt think many folks around here are fans of my Alma mater haha. I grew up in a UH household though, so Coogs are my #1 and always will be.
But youāre right, A&M has a crazy passionate fan base and it makes for a crazy game day atmosphere.
Oh god no he is just joking donāt go to any of those places lol
@GoBuffs Donāt listen this.
