I like Tune’s game a lot but every time he has played he has thrown at least one to two picks as is to be expected from a true freshman.
I think this game will be won by the team that wins the turnover battle.
Are you forgetting Tech?

Edit: Still, this is a bold statement-it doesn’t matter what QB we have back there in this offense. This is not disrespect to King, but Briles’ offense is orchestrated to hurt opponents if they try to go the same pace as us. The more opportunity you give us, the more it will show how superior his scheme is bc it will hit eventually. Opposing DCs have to call a near perfect game if they want to go fast(again SMU). Briles will have a plan that works for Tune. We just need to protect both him and the football. Memphis will get their points.
The question is, will they chew the clock, score, stop us, then score again? Or will they go lightspeed, go three and out, and keep giving us the ball with a lifetime throughout the game? As someone’s said, if we score early and often we’ll win. Norvell might be baited to abandon the run and that could help us.

Not even sure how he came up with that stat seeing as Tune has only 1 pick on the season and it was on a play that he got crushed on a blitz.

It seems like our defense plays much better with a lead. If we can jump out to a lead, get Tune comfortable, and shut the Liberty Bowl up it will be huge.

Our season could have been over on that hit too. I still cannot believe we let our QB get hit like that considering losing King earlier in the game. Seemed like a horrible play call to me.

Has anyone heard anything about the status of Bryson Smith? I know he had a hamstring vs Tulane but have heard everything from out for the year to fine and playing. Also JD had an injury article in the chron today and Smith wasn’t mentioned as injured.
Lark, Mulbah, and Corbin were status unknown. If we could just get one of Lark or Corbin back that would be big.

Didn’t he play in the spring game? I seem to recall he threw a couple of picks then but it was freezing cold and I had drank a bit.
Not sure on the spring game numbers, but he has 4TDS and 1 INT in 3 regular season appearances. I am excited to see what he can do having all week to prepare as QB1.

I’ve been saying this a few times. We look bad and lose when an opposing qb gets comfortable. We win when we can be ahead so that the opposing qb is in panic catch up mode. The best way we can do that is to score early and often, and not waste offensive possessions.

Tune has to know to get rid of ball with guy blitzing to live to make another play. Kolb was excellent at this once upon a time.

Bingo! And the only way to stop that from happening again is if Coach No D stops playing soft defense that allows the QB an entire day to look downfield and throw the ball as he pleases!
No D also needs to stop telling his defenders to play 8-9 yards behind the receivers that allows them to be wide open to catch the ball completely unchallenged! You can’t win if your defense won’t cover the receivers or put pressure on the quarterback!

As I have already stated … Memphis should have seemingly had the game in hand but their players busted that by awakening our reserves and some regulars with their off-hand remarks questioning our skills and abilities
Our defensive coaches may not be much motivating/teaching our defensive players correctly …
HOWEVER …
Memphis may have just replaced them … instead …
