Pres Signs Executive Order to ‘Save College Sports’

Right… only a casino owner should be able to do that… :eyes:

I can see why people would like this order, especially programs like UH, which are on the lower end of the NIL scale.

But based on the court orders that have come down, it is not likely to be resistant to legal challenges.

Anyway, people interested in true amateurism in college athletics can follow D3, as I do.

How do you know this is true… looking at our football & basketball rosters it doesn’t scream low end of NIL…

Our basketball roster was definitely on the lower end of the Sweet Sixteen NIL list.

See here.

Kelvin Sampson himself has called us a “poor” program.

Kelvin Sampson bemoans Houston NIL budget: 'We're poor' - ESPN.

That’s a pretty good authority.

Why do you say that we don’t scream lower end of NIL…when even Kelvin Sampson himself does?

And in football, as of 2024, we were literally DEAD LAST in football NIL in the Big 12.

See [here.](Where Do Big 12 Football Programs Rank in NIL Spending?

So based on that, I stand by my assertion, and reject your counter-narrative.

Lower end of the sweet 16 list is not proving your point and you know it… that actually means we have damn good NIL… MORE THAN UT!

And CKS walked that statement back and said he shouldn’t have said that; we’re not poor…

And your football article is from 12/11/2024… come on man… do better!

lol there’s no way I’m hell this is holding up in court. These things needs to be legislated.

Kelvin’s word isn’t good enough for you?

What about this list of 2026 transfer portal NIL budgete?

https://www.sportscasting.com/news/college-football-nil-budgets-2026-which-programs-control-the-transfer-portal/

We are not in the Top 20 for sure.

Tech makes the list and we don’t.

NIL is NOT our strong suit.

You might be the only one here that believes anything else.

  1. byu - 40 billion
  2. texas tech - 10 mil
  3. kansas - 7.8 mil
  4. iowa state - 7.6 mil
  5. arizona - 7.2 mil
  6. baylor - 7 mil
  7. ksu - 6.9 mil
  8. ucf - 6.8 mil
  9. tcu - 6.8 mil
  10. asu - 6.6 mil
  11. osu - 6.5 mil
  12. wvu - 5.9 mil
  13. colorado - 5.7 mil
  14. cincinnati - 5.5 mil
  15. houston - 5.4 mil

I did see this list of 2025 Big 13 NIL budgets on social media. Not sure on the accuracy.

…and nil does not buy championships. Outstanding HC’s do. It helps but it has never been the deciding factor. If it did uta would have won every CFP and BCS since their creation.

We spent more than that on our basketball team… I don’t believe that for one second.

Looks like we’ve done better than MOST schools in THIS year’s transfer portal.

You can throw out 2024…

And posting stats found on social media reeks of desperation.

Are YOU saying you know better than CKS!?

Law acts like we have Wassou NIL or something… we clearly have a damn good NIL with our basketball and football rosters.

Proof is in the pudding!

#1 overall football recruit is at UH…

#1 center recruit in 2026 ncaam going to… you guessed it… UH!

I CALL FOR LAW’S CASE TO BE THROWN OUT FOR IT’S BASED ON HEARSAY AND SEWING CIRCLE RUMORS YOUR HONOR!!!

Overall I’d say we have middle of the road NIL, being upper echelon in basketball and probably bottom half in football.

Let me tell you something, when I drive through Laws county I mind my P’s and Q’s cuz no way I’m winning in his court of LAW!

No it simply reeks of not having more updated data.

Doesn’t prove your contention at all.

Are you saying that from 2024 to today we went from at the bottom to near the top?

Come on now. That’s a pretty far fetched assumption.

Do YOU have any numbers to that effect?

Hint: NO.

So as YOU say…do better.

And in football, despite having signed that one really big name, our overall recruiting rankings are NOT near the Top of the P4.

As for Kelvin’s backtrack, you can always tell much more from any person’s visceral FIRST reaction.

Hey listen. NIL isn’t a guarantee of success.

Kentucky had like a $20 million NIL budget for their basketball team and they were out early. WE went further with less than half that.

aTm has a monster NIl budget and hasn’t done a heck of a lot with it.

But make no mistake. uh, especially in football, is NOT viewed as an NIL powerhouse.

By P4 football standards, we are generally regarded as being on the lower end.

Based on what some of the insiders are saying on this same website, this is indeed the case. I remember Joprior saying our boosters improved our NIL quite a bit this year, and that’s the reason we were able to get some of the big recruits we got.

This is on the football side of things. In basketball, we have been at the very least a top 20 team in NIL the last couple of years. Top 20 is a VERY good place to be.

I haven’t seen any data saying we are in the Top 20 in NIL for basketball.

We were in the lower end of the Sweet 16, and that doesn’t include non-Sweet 16 teams like Kentucky that had bigger NIL budgets. That makes being in the top 20 unlikely in my view.

So I would greet any claim that we are in the Top 20, especially given the degree of boosterism found in the P2, with GREAT skepticism.

Someone will have to show me that list. I doubt anybody will.

Our football transfer portal NIL budget was definitely NOT in the Top 20, as I already posted above.

Who are these great sugar daddies that brought us from the bottom to the top, because none have been named here, if that is true.

And you should remain skeptic, as everyone else should too, because NIL data is not entirely transparent. We can only go off of the information that has been made public, but that’s not the whole story.

But that’s my point.

What’s out there publicly all says that we are ANYTHING BUT near the top.

Far from it, actually.

The most recent football numbers put us at the BOTTOM of the P4, NOT the top.

Who are the incognito sugar daddies that changed that, if that has in fact changed (which assumes data not in evidence).

What’s out there that can truly confirm we are near the bottom?

NIL lacks transparency, so you can never know for sure.

Either way, it looks we are competitive in both money making sports so there’s something we are doing as a program that is working.
