Quentin Grimes (Update: Houston)

Yeah no. I fully expect grimes to play this season. If Duarte or Berman dont tweet it it’s not official.

Edit: they’re cooking

I’m surprised Coach Bishop hasn’t figured out a way to add weights to those ropes yet.

The two of them release info when UH tells them to or they will stop getting the information.

Cool! Thanks for clarifying it

Wow, humble yet confident. He’s gonna be big time. C’mon NCAA throw us a bone for once and get this approved.

i dont think katz realizes he is filling for a waiver…

lol you could see grimes trying to play it off … katz: “you chose to sit out a year and improve your game that speaks volumes”
grimes: “ye…ah

Yea, its like taking a job as a cashier knowing your buddy is lobbying to get you into management. You just keep your mouth shut.

Yeah, well let’s hope that Quentin Grimes isn’t working as a “cashier” in the Fertitta Center…j/k

It’s ok as long as he actually shows up to work

Anyone in the know…if he does not get his waiver what are the odds of him staying at UH?

What you mean. He’ll just sit out a year and play one most likely at UH before going to the NBA. I don’t see him going pro overseas to improve his stock or the G-League.

All of these assumptions are based on him being a lock for the NBA.

he was supposedly given a draftable grade this offseason…but it was low and he wants to be a lottery pick

ive said this before but my take (im not in te know) is that it will completely depend of when the decision is made, which could be in 1 month or 6 months…
if he is denied in a month, i think the NBL is a legitimate possibility as its before their preseason even starts

if its denied in 5 months and he has already made himself comfortable with the team, most pro teams season is already mid way, i think he will ride it out

I like it better when we have players who want to get better in order to get the W’s for UH, and the concern about playing pro is an afterthought, especially if you’ve never even played a game for UH. If it’s all about “me”, then it doesn’t translate to good team ball on the court.

lol those dont exist, especially at the level we are playing at (especially not in basketball)… corey was talking about being an NBA player on social from the very moment he signed and he was juco

an aac coach said it best (i cant remember who) it was something like “we want players who want to pros and can see it. if they dont they probably aren’t good enough and i don’t want them”

their hasnt been a national title team without early entrant nba player in AGES

It’s a nice idea, unrealistic but nice. The dynamic at the high levels is “You help us, you help yourself.” Coaches want to win and players want to be pros.

I’ll also add of a player isn’t looking out for his best interests overall, I’d question his readiness for the real world in general.
