Quentin Grimes (Update: Houston)

And the “real” world says (based strictly on percentages) that the likelihood of a player making an NBA team:

NCAA senior players drafted by an NBA team: Less than one in 75, or 1.3 percent.

High school senior players eventually drafted by an NBA team: About three in 10,000, or 0.03 percent.

That’s roughly the chance of getting four of a kind in the first round of draw poker.

Now if you’re talking about the various pro leagues throughout the world, then that’s a different issue.

I dont get your points.
-Knowing the odds are against them to make it to the NBA helps push them to get better and better.
-Playing in college to get yourself into the NBA is not mutually exclusive from being a great team player. At all.

Depends on the program since the college and NBA games are completely different. If your program isn’t running pro stuff your development won’t matter much at some point.

Just being around the AAU circuit the top kids are mostly looking to leave college as soon as possible since basketball has turned into a job a long time ago for them.

I don’t disagree with you. But making it one’s sole focus and motivation such that everything revolves around it, and is reflected in most every statement made, i.e., why you are attending a university and what you think that attending that university will provide for you in getting to the NBA is selfish and doesn’t reflect a commitment to being a team player just by word alone. Your teammates hear what you say.
This is why I loathe Kentucky and their schmuck coach. Glad when they lose. By virtue of all the great “team players” they get who have no concern at all for the NBA, they should win it all most every year.

I agree but I don’t think most of the kids are doing that. There have been a few for sure but most of the kids give the university and team there all while there on campus.

These statistics are misleading because they are including a lot of players who aren’t NBA quality, and NCAA seniors have a lower chance of getting drafted because if they were actually an NBA quality player, they would have left college before their senior year to join the NBA.

The chances of a Top50 recruit playing in the NBA are pretty high, and it’s even higher when you look at a Top10 recruit like Grimes.

Okay so PJ Byrd committed to Colorado St in June and he’s just been granted his waiver for immediate eligibility. Quentin Grimes committed to the Coogs not too long after so maybe he’ll be getting his soon?

I wonder if they interview the former coach and ask questions like,

“Did he mention needing to be near family?”

I get excited when I see a bunch of new updates in the thread… hoping there’s some positive news about Grimes.

Just wanted to clarify good news as referring to Grime’s waiver or commitment from a big man…not something like saving money on your car insurance… thanks
